Back in 1867, just weeks before the United States had began discussing the purchase of Alaska from Russia, the Russians, in the wake of their Crimean War loss, were looking to unload their burdensome American colony onto someone who wasn't an enemy, and their first pick just happened to be one of the world's smallest countries, the Principality of Liechtenstein. Standing at just 62 square miles in area, doubly landlocked by Austria and Switzerland, and with an army of only 80 men, what might have happened had this tiny country actually bought Alaska?
