Let's listen in on what a phalaenopsis complex hybrid is thinking from the moment it leaves the place where it was born to bloom, until it reaches your home. Let's put ourselves into the phalaenopsis' situation and circumstances while it is on this massive road trip. Let's get a perspective of what this phalaenopsis is feeling, thinking and wishes we would be able to hear and understand ... the stress it feels, until it reaches your home. Thank you jjdawg for this video request! I hope that I have been able to shed some light, as to why it is so important to acclimate your new phalaenopsis, even if it was just picked up locally and brought home! #orchideen #orquideas #orchids #orchidcare #beginners

Thank you Nina. You have given us all a new perspective on the life of a phal before we get them into our home. And some of it never even crossed my mind. I have recently purchased 2 new orchids which still remain in their original trave!ing baggage. At least 3 weeks ago. They are progressing wonderfully. Thanks for your continuing original outlook on orchids.

Trust phalaenopsis, it won't leave you. Don't hurry to make it bloom. Slow and steady wins the race. This applies to phalaenopsis. Love the acclimatisation video Nina.

Um, why does this Phalaenopsis story remind me of being taken to camp in the 6th grade (a requirement that was supposed to help build character or something)? They couldn't take us on regular school buses and heaven forbid they use charter buses. No, they crammed us into these vans with only two windows in the doors. It was dark, steamy and some of those boys smelled. Then they got us to the camp and we had to march to our campsites, hauling our sleeping bags and duffel bags (and I had a camping cot because I was *not* sleeping on the ground), and we had to be in tents in Ohio in October. 🥶 🥶 🥶Cold!! And they expected us to use latrines 😒? No, no, even then I was an indoor plumbing kind of gal. And then the "food" we were given, 🤢, the only thing I ate in seven days was cereal for breakfast and one night we had s'mores. Of course, they expected us to do things like learn to start a fire without matches, catch and clean fish, other stuff I wasn't (and still not) interested in. See, the boys were taken to the boy scouts camp which was all about roughing it. The girls were taken to the girl scouts camp. They had little cabins, each cabin had a bathroom and HEAT. From what the girls told me, the food wasn't bad. They got to do things like archery and making these yarn and stick things. I think that is rather unfair, the boys sleeping in tents with temps down in the 40's overnight. Oh, and the greatest atrocity, we weren't allowed any "outside" food. They threw all of my Little Debbie snacks in the garbage before we were loaded into the vans. The GARBAGE! 😱
Wait, what was I saying? Oh yeah, you did one heck of a job explaining why acclimation (of any orchid) is important. Even if it did give me PTSD. 😜

🦒🌷🙌💖So true !!! From the moment they are ripped off their perfect environment, plants have to adapt and cope so many times that they may feel already exhausted by the moment they get to their final destination. And even then some are luckier than others 😯. That was a very happy orchid on the screen 😃. Much love to you and yours on this cold day of winter...I mean, spring 🙄 Much love to your and yours, amiga mia. Hope you have a fantastic SUNday, another step towards warmer days 😍😘🥰

You cross your roots and hope! 😂 oh! Nina you made laugh listening to the story of this poor little phalaenopsis travels… even though it is the truth! Oh! Boy the ice cube trick… who on earth thought of that one… well they certainly did not put themselves into these poor little root shoes! Take care Nina!🌸💕🌸

Love how you told the life of a phalaenopsis by the phal's perspective! Beautifully told! Thank you, Nina, for sharing this! You are a wonderful Storyteller!❤️❤️❤️

What a sad story. I definitely felt like I was the plant the way you spoke. I leave mine alone now. I learned hard lessons back in September with repotting immediately. I will never do that again. Now I just enjoy and try to take care of them the best I know how. Thanks for this. I wish this video came out 7 months ago.

Well done Nina! I used to get withered phals. from the TLC rack, and nurse them back to health..until I ran out of space. And that "just add ice" orchid company...unbelievable ;( very much a business dependent on you killing your orchids so that you can buy more.

💚💚💚💚💚💚 as a overly-empathic person, this has ALL the feels.

I’m very grateful that almost all most of my orchids are / were seedlings. Yes they were all shipped but at least they came from the grower to me directly.

The ones I recently received after Dad passed, they were all older and I know they had a story much like the one you told.
Two were in one bowl full of water, Sphagnum and bark that stank SO badly I couldn’t NOT repot them. Seriously it made the house reek
They’re all being nursed. I may lose one but I’m hopeful most will pull through

You tell a beautiful story 🌸🌿💚

What a story ....and truth.... im always looking at them poor Phals in the are like super models the first few days and then all the way downhill. One question to ask Ninja. Most people when they know you love orchids buy you a phal....🤔🤔🤔...most and all of them in moss. And wraped in plastic. Hate that setup can you repot it when you get home with it there and then?As I saw already some roots is rotted by then. In my begining year not to long ago hahaha.. of growing orchids as most of us we started with a phal...I also gave it as a gift. But no like i sentance it to mother in law always as she see mine wants this one and that one and so on...now i just say no you cant look after it....lol. Get a purfume or a piece of jewelry not a orchid that needs love and care. As its almost my bday and anyone ask what do you want for your bday i only say a gift voutcher as i can chose myself what i want...lol.
Thank you for this interesting facts...well done girl.👩‍🌾 💯.
Have yourself a green super lovely day and keep up your videos....I see you are a few hour ahead of us so the first thing i do is check if you posted a video as yours are the best on ytube. Its not only a show off its also facts and you can learn from your

Any tips on why my complex hybrid Phals have very long, pointed leaves? They grow new leaves and roots but the leaves grow in long and sometimes twisted.
