3 Methods for Pruning Herbs To Stimulate New Growth

When pruning herbs for harvest or for shape, it's vital to follow the 'rules' of the plant...the way it naturally grows. This way you'll stimulate new, delicious growth as well as shape the plant over the course of the season or seasons.

We'll be pruning rosemary, green onions, and of course the classic basil in this video to demonstrate a few different approaches.

Clarification: For green onions, you can cut 1-2" above the soil, but I find the technique I described to work better for maximizing green top harvest, then you can pull and use the entire green onion once you've gotten what you want from the tops.

Can you please do more videos on herbs for beginners? Lemongrass, sage, tarragon, thyme and oregano are the types of herbs we would also most likely want to grow because they're expensive at the supermarket.

Hey dude, I'm from Finland and I've been watching your videos all day now.
It feels like you're genuinely excited about gardening and teaching others, and you're so energetic in every video that it just makes me happy. I'm preparing for my garden this year, as it's still a bit too cold for planting, but watching these videos just makes me look more forward into the time where the danger of frost is over.

Keep it up, man!
I think that a little gardening is something we all need now.

This was so extremely helpful! I have been so lost when it comes to pruning and for some reason, I haven't been able to find any videos like this one that explain it so well. The info was straightforward but also in depth enough for me to feel comfortable doing it myself. Of course, the demonstration was also extremely helpful! Would love to see more like this about thyme, oregano, parsley, etc

Thank you for showing such good pruning tips. I love the way you show I. Your video clip:
- short videos
- clear methods
- precise techniques
I found them very helpful, good instructions, realistically clear.
Please do more pruning techniques for herbs, as well as seasonal veggies
( like the present time now is almost the end of summer: late July & beginning of August: what vegetable can we grow ( seeding, planting, pruning, fertilizing, ...etc...).
Thank you again.
I appreciate your helpful gardening ideas.

I learned a lot from this video and would like to see more. I'm growing my first thyme this year, so would like to see it included in your next prune/harvest video. (Thanks for all the help you've given me through your channel. It's been an inspiration.)
