I’d rather wear glasses all my life than risk going blind. Don’t play with your eyes.

I got LASIK 20 years ago. I couldn’t wear contacts anymore… they constantly irritated my eyes and I got frequent eye infections even with Daily disposables and being excessive with hand and face sanitation.
I still see great! My eyes started getting dry about 10 years ago and I see halos but I have astigmatism and I’ve always seen halos at night.

It’s amazing to not have to wear thick glasses!!!!

This is an easy decision:
1) there’s no real way to research the proficiency of a surgeon. Reviews can be bought, professional referrals are unreliable.
2) if the surgery goes wrong you could be blind or in suicidal levels of pain,
3) there are safe alternatives: contacts and glasses.
Therefore, the risks, while statistically low, could be catastrophic. Lower risk alternatives are available, so the decision is no lasik.

Had it done twice after 1st time wasn’t the best, got a second procedure done and still not the best, permanent dry eyes that I have to use my finger to open eyes in the morning waking up, many years of stress after surgery,

Is there a common factor which makes it more dangerous? I've heard a thin eye layer? is a key factor that - if too thin - should discourage a person and or makes them a non-candidate for lasik surgery. I also got scared off with the young police officer who committed suicide b/c of the bad lasik surgery and the problems after. My son is considering lasik surgery but these events and the info out there discourage me from supporting the decision for lasik.

Hello, I left kind of confused, it is safe to perform Lasik with the main Franchise (In Miami), seems like every case has been a success with them. I am tired of almost not seeing anything while driving at night (I use glasses but I always left them or loose them etc).

I am very interested in your opinion.

Thank you.

My doctor suggested me the lasik but for different opinion i asked another eye doctor (he did not examinate my eye) but he said that the trans prk is safer so i shouldn’t get lasik. i don’t know what to do. I know my doctor is famous in his area and 2 people that i know got lasik with him. But the thing is my doctor did not inform me about the surgery at all and just send me the next room where i will be discussing the price of the surgery. So i did my own research and find out there’s a lot of people who have post-op corneal complications and most of them done the lasik also because of the cut for the flap so many people suffers from the eye dryness. What do you think doctor about which procedure is safer? Thank you.

Slicing through one of the most innervated and sensitive tissues in the body with lasers is never a good idea.

Thanks for your helpful information.
But there is one question I'm still looking for. I'm 22 and this year I'm going to work hours on my papers and spend a lot of time in front of my laptop. Is it still a good decision to have this surgery with this kind of lifestyle?
