"I can feel them...but I can't remember them."

So much emotion given in such a monotone line. Weller OWNS this role, odd as it is.

“Murphy had a wife and son, what happened to them?”
Ive loved that line because he doesn’t consider him to be Alex Murphy at this time

it's like he wants to cry but he can't

Man this is heartbreaking, his life was stolen twice, yet he remains noble and more human than any character in the franchise

It totally went over my head as a kid but I notice now the undercurrent of sadness that permeates this film. A good man, without his consent, has his body desecrated by corporate scumbags who don't care about public safety and are only looking to reap the profits and pr from his sacrifice. Also, this film is so prophetic on many levels. That's what elevates it from classic to masterpiece in my opinion.

This is still some great looking practical make up effects. He literally looks like an organic front-part of a face bolted to a robotic headcase.

"You may not like what you are going to see."

Wonder if he meant that for her, or was preparing himself for it too.

This is not a average action movie. It has deeper meaning.

"I can feel them, but I can't remember them."

This is the point I have always made about the house scene. Robo isn't getting his memories back. Those memories were erased. What is happening in that scene is Robo is feeling the emotions associated with that house. His memories are gone but the emotional connection is still there. The love Murphy had for his family is still there. Clarence and his gang took Murphy's life, OCP took his identity, but they couldn't take away his humanity. What makes a human a human is still there. Robo's struggle is figuring that out, learning it, understanding it, and coming to terms with it. He has to take what is left and find balance with what he is now. This scene shows that internal struggle perfectly. Notice he still refers to Murphy as, well, Murphy. He doesn't know who he is. He isn't Alex Murphy anymore, but he is still more than the programming OCP gave him.

"I can feel them but I can't remember them"
Such an amazing scene. Even though much of Robocop is remembered for it's bloody violence, cynical humor and action, it's this tender and somber scene of a man coming to terms with the humanity he has lost that sticks out most in my memory.

Funny thing: The director and one of the producers fought a ton over how they would shoot this scene. Both weren't satisfied with the other's idea and they didn't speak to eachother during post production. It was only after the premiere, where they both loved how the scene turned out, that they reconciled. They knew exactly how crucial this scene was in establishing the human inside the machine and didn't want it to look goofy or fake. It was probably the most important scene in the movie, to be honest.

Such a haunting scene. Still gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I see it. Peter Weller was put on Earth to play this role.

I love how they decided to leave the bullet hole that killed him in Murphy's head/face. Almost a sad reminder of how he got to be like this.

his partner sees the human being and not the machine, great scene

I really love how his voice and body language changes. Almost like Murphy is slowly crawling to the surface.

The best part for me was always Lewis holding up the mirror to Murphy, the emotions in her eyes are literally more than a million words.

Nancy Allen should have gotten an Oscar for this role.
