It warms my heart to see that I'm not the only one that likes to collect all these crazy things! Thank you for making my robot's collar all those years ago Dan! 😁

You know, Dan if you don't mind the suggestion, you might want to make this a Thanksgiving tradition here on the channel to feature viewers collections. Please, if anyone wants to see that happen, "Like" this comment to agree.

Here's an interesting bit of trivia - I had a friend whose family fled from Soviet-controlled East Berlin before the wall came down in 1989. He lived in Nevada for years as a private pilot (I think it was a charter/shipping service) and had an opportunity to meet Linda Harrison "Nova", the woman on horseback with Charleton Heston at the end of the first Planet of the Apes movie, and even had a date with her. He had a rough life after those years and passed away about 7 years ago from adult onset diabetes, but he used to always talk about meeting her, it was one of his most cherished memories. He remembered her being such a sweet and kind woman.

That glass bubble for the Mobius kit has become a real hen’s tooth. Fran found it by sheer luck and had to do a back room deal to get it. Oh, model builders.😂

Those are some really nice collections. As Dan would say, "How cool is that?"

I'm a little bit older. I cherish my Major Matt Mason figure! I went through a few of them in the late 60's. Took him wherever I went. He is my "Rosebud" if you get the meaning. ❤

I’m a child of the 60s. My collection of toys was primarily various space models, probably first issue Lost in Space toys (a styrofoam Jupiter that was pretty cool), Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, GI Joe of course, Bat Man, Major Matt Mason galore, and lots of bubble gum cards. My family wasn’t well off so what I had got loads of play time so sadly nothing is left. I can say they were played with and quite enjoyed though. I would have loved anything from The Invaders. Loved that program. It would have been cool if there had been figures associated with The Night Stalker, but I probably wouldn’t have any as I started University in 76. Good times and hey, I got to stay up for the moon landing in 69 and saw Mercury through Apollo on TV so I suppose the real deal was cool. When I grew up I became the Production Director for Lucas publishing, producing magazines for the official fan club and the Star Wars conventions, call “Celebration”. My boss collected Star Wars props and anything Star Wars so was thrust into that world when I worked for Wizards of the Coast in the 90s. Probably the most amazing place I ever worked at. I wish I’d had Star Trek toys as a kid as hands down it was my first love.

I used to have all the Marvel comics of Star Wars. I have certified authentic replica of Kenobi's and Darth Vader's light saber's from Industrial Lights and Magic. The cool part is that the plaque with Darth Vader's is signed by James Earl Jones.

I saw Star Wars day 1 second showing in 1977@ the Lowe’s Theater on 86’th street in Manhattan. They handed out buttons that had “May the Force be with You. “ to everyone. I still have the button and wore it to Empire and Return. I saw both the first day they were released. And I also wore it when I saw the prequels. I also have the movie program from Star Wars I bought that day. It’s not in very good condition because I kept flipping through it. I collect cheesy horror and scifi movies from the 50’s and 60’s and have at least a hundred.

Thanks so much Dan for including my (humble) collection 23:42 in your YouTube video! Really appreciate the spotlight and thrill. It was great to see it alongside the other impressive collections. This idea is great community-building!

Dan, you're one cool cat. Being a lifelong Planet of the Apes mega fan is actually how I first stumbled upon your channel. People forget that sci-fi action figures (Sorry, not dolls - because... Why call Kenner's 3 3/4 inch toys "action figures" when they only had 5 points of articulation, THE SAME AS BARBIE, but classic 8 inch Megos had 14 to 16 points of articulation?) and other assorted merchanding trends actually started with the Apes films. I'm currently reading The Making of Star Wars ("Episode IV"), and George Lucas actually owes a great deal to the Apes franchise, because 20th Century Fox was only interested in funding another big budget sci-fi flick because POTA had been such a huge cash cow for them. The "Go Ape!" craze had mostly subsided by 1975, so Alan Ladd Jr. was quite pleased to discover that the then fledgling filmmaker who'd only recently scored his very first huge hit with a surprisingly low budget film called American Graffiti, intended to do a sci-fi epic for his next project. Sure, Star Wars will always be its own unique phenomenon, of course, but over the years, I've come to realize just how many preexisting properties heavily influenced Lucas in the 70s. Everyone knows he was trying to reinvent Flash Gordon, but there are also clearly evident concepts taken directly from Star Trek (because Spock, on the bridge of the Enterprise, psychically felt the destruction of a Vulcan ship in an episode of the original series long before Ben Kenobi "felt a great disturbance in the Force. As if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced."), Dune, The Six Million Dollar Man, the Kung Fu TV series, and yes, even Planet of the Apes. I'm sure that's why Lucas first approached Mego to produce Star Wars figures before the film had even been released. He had seen the merchandising bonanza created by the Apes franchise, and he obviously intended to quite literally "ape" that particular pop culture phenomenon. As a result, to this very day, a lot of collectors would still love to see a line of 8 inch Star Wars figures done the way Mego would have made them if they hadn't stupidly turned Lucas down back in the 70s!

Star Trek (1966-1969) is the pride and joy of my movie collection!!! Also love The Black Hole, Excalibur, I Claudius, Starr Trek TMP, Blade Runner 2049 (a recent add). Logan’s Run, The Planet of the Apes, TNG. Mainly films and shows I watched between the ages of 15-20. 🖖
