Gun laws only affect people who obey laws and don't commit crimes with their guns. Why is that so hard to understand? In NYC, they don't actually enforce the laws, that's why a criminal who was released 21 times was on the street and killed Jonathan Diller instead of being locked up like he should have been. Don't talk about more gun laws if they will not enforce the ones already on the books.

I had an English coworker. He was arguing for the complete disarmament of the American population. I told him “If I was a much younger man, and was considering a life of crime, I’d move to England. Or, some other European country that has restrictive gun laws. I would only make sure that I never broke into the home of a soldier or police officer.” He angrily replied “DUDE! You’d be caught so fast!” so I asked him “Why? Are the British police so much more skilled at apprehending criminals than the American police?” I went on to tell him that in a country with an unarmed population, I would be like a hungry wolf in a field of sheep.
