Great amp and sound. Honestly I love both the sound of tube amps and this amp for metal. I think the people who are constantly saying the amp sucks is because they bought a 2000$ tube amp and then someone brings a 500$ amp like this that sounds damn close to their tone, they feel the need to bash the line 6 because they spent so much money on the tube amp and have to justify it. Plus no amp hiss coming from this like tube amps or feedback/changing tubes/buying 300 floor pedals blah blah. Just makes guitar playing affordable and fun.

Do a blind test and pretty sure half of these people on this comment section wouldn't notice it was line 6 spider.

400 dollars for basically a pod x3, a 120 watt power amp, and a frfr speaker cab sounds amazing. After tweaking with a pod x3 for 6 years I would say that sounds like a user friendly, all around versatile combo.

Sounds better than the lower end one.

Would be cool to hear a demo of the head version

I love this Amp. I can create any tone I need with my Spider V-120 ...love the interface on my 32" Computer Monitor. I added the MKII FBV Pedal and it is amazing. I have my fav 4 Tones at my feet...Anyone who disses this Amp has not tried it.

Fluff that is one of best riff you ever pulled out!

*It always boils down to if a guitarist is skilled and can make anything sound good. Or if the guitarist is dependant on equipment to make them sound better.*

*The Line 6 Spider units are engineered to sound like a Mesa Boogie. And they do. Completely!!*

Very impressive, but what can you do with a Blackstar amp?

I'll say this about the Spider V120, I get compliments all the time. I just took time and patience to A/B mine with my Single Rectifier, Friedman Grunt 40 and Marshall TSL60. Ok, I did spend about 25 total hours tinkering with the eq settings ect. Now I have a 29lb small gigging amp that actually sounds 90% like the amps twice the weight. I think with any modeling amp, you get out of it what you put into it. It's seems popular for some to hate on Line 6, as if they're the Nickelback of the amp world, but I've owned 3 different models and the Spider V can sound like most any amp you want if you have the patience to create and perfect your patches. It's extremely versitile. Thanks

I've been playing since 1979 and have owned more amps than I care to remember. These Spider V's (gotta get the 120) are really flying under the radar because everyone is raving about the Katana but I spent three hours playing the Line 6, the Marshall Core, Fender newbie Mustang, Katana 100 and Blackstar IDP. The Katana was overtly bright though I suspect that could be somewhat negated once the stock speaker is broken in. The Fender's cleans were nice but its high gain tones sounded like a kazoo. The Core's tones were about as inspiring as eating a plate of pre-chewed peanut brittle and the Blackstar IDP was definitely impressive. I almost chose that one. However, in the end, as I've written elsewhere, forget the L6 presets and get into some deep diving with the options and the tones are definitely in there, as others are discovering. If you liked the Vetta but never had the cash for one, the V is right there with no apologies. One thing that sold me on the L6 as a "fun to f**k with when I'm bored" amp is the editing which can be done without the amp being hooked up to a computer. The Katana is limited in that respect. After the three hour test session, I came away with the impression that nine out of 10 of us would be happy with either the Spider V, Katana or Blackstar. The Code and Mustang just seemed like toys compared to those three. Once again, forget the presets. Just start with one basic grind-less tone with the Spyder V when you have an opportunity to play one and gradually add the toppings from there. The amp, the modulations and additional gain stages (if you desire). Change the cab and speakers within...even the mic and go from there and one thing that is almost required....use PEQ. It makes all the difference in the world.

I love how you play the drop tuning with the sudden 4 fret stretch from the regular chord. It creates a very satisfying sound. Dissonance I guess??

Then Glenn came over and smashed it to death. Actually that was a nice metal tone. Nothing wrong with that amp to me, plus it's an audio interface with XLR outs so why not.

Why do so many people hate on line 6? All their stuff is a great value and they DO sound decent. I almost bought a peavey invective head and cab which would have cost me $3000+ but I decided to go with the spider V 240, the fbv foot controller, a g10 relay, a two in one reverb/delay pedal, and a Jackson 7string guitar and I’m still under $2000.

love the spider V 30, so many good effects and presets for metal

An improvement yes, but I’m disappointed about the lack of high end, especially considering that you used a tube condenser, sounds a bit muffled to me

Thanks man, Line 6 has come a long way. If you are on the fence watch the Rig rundown with Yes if Steve Howe plays live with it anyone can.

Here’s a tip. If you play good, you can make most everything sound good. 👍🏻 That’s one think I hope everyone’s learning from Fluff.

Back to back blind comparisons with several tube & modeling amps and the Spider V 60 sounded great. Several snobs at the shop couldn't pick out the tube amps from the more expensive modelers, including the Spider. One guy who rants against Spider amps picked it as one of the better sounds. Was surprised by the results. Comparison was with the 60 that retails for $300.

Glenn's gonna be pissed...

Fluff, you should try out a Boss Katana 100, either the 1x12 or 2x12.
