That's a good video but how can i trust you when you don't cut your excess strings?

I have a Katana 100 2 x12 and a spider v240. Sounds quality wise. the spider eats the Katana. But the Katana responds quicker and the sound is in the room is quicker and punchier, if that makes sense.

I have the Lines 6 and I just bought the Katana for my brother. Both sound great, but obviously the Line 6 is better. Which is why it costs more ;)

Great demo and great playing. To my ears the Katana sounds a bit warmer/smoother. The Line6 seems a bit “shrill”. 🤘

Interesting...I've gone from line six spider 3 to katana MKII hundred watt...I like both

I have a line 6 spider iv 75 and a boss katana 50... both sound good, with the katana the front panel eq is very sensitive and usually requires cutting back on the treble and mids.

I probably shouldn't even comment, but I've been playing guitar for 35 years. I don't know what it is about Katana amps but I just absolutely hate those things, I think they sound awful! My son had one and was telling me how great it was so he brought it over for me to play and I just could not get a satisfying sound out of the thing. Likewise on these Youtube vids, every time I hear them in a comparison they go straight to the bottom of the list for me! To each his own, but I would personally never spend a dime on a Katana Amp, they are just cheap sounding and cannot recreate anything right in my experienced opinion! With that said, to each his own, play on!

Line 6 seems to bring you more precise sound. It doesn't prove that the Boss is less efficient but I think you 've been practicing the Line 6 sound for years...

I bought both the Boss Katana 100 watt mk2 and the Line 6 Spider V 240 watt mk2, played both for a week and sent the Katana back to the store as I hated it but wanted to love it from all the hype on the internet. but the line 6 sounds great and full .I can just plug in and always find a great tone .

Line 6 is quiet because it have a Noise Supressor you can configure that, the katana does not have that option

To my ear in this example, the line 6 is the winner. Both sound great though.

Both amps claim to accommodate acoustic/electrics. Have you compared the two in this capacity?

Having spent a lot of time with both, I feel that the Katana is a bit easier for the novice tone jockey, but the Spider is more diverse - though you will have to put in the time to find the tone in your head. I suggest starting with a preset tone and modify it as you see fit - there is a lot of parameters available and it's much easier to do on an iPad. Also, the pedalboard is MUCH better with the Spider - though admittedly more expensive. I am disappointed to see that Line6 did away with the boost function on the Spider V. The Spider 4 allowed you to set a "second" post volume to each channel so you could effectively turn yourself up for leads without altering your tone. I found that very useful. (The old pedalboard had an extra button that corresponded).

Nice comparison video. I was very curious to hear how they measure up against each orher. In my opinion the Spider sounded slightly better than the Katana. Katana sounds a bit too muffled and noisy to my liking. The Spider appears to sound more defined and tighter. But I am not hearing a huge difference between the two though so i don’t understand the hatred for the Spider that i see a lot online. TTo each his own i guess. To me the Spider also seems more versatile. I own a 240HC+4x12 which packs even more punch and i am very happy with that rig and its capabilities. Not switching to the Katana camp any time soon.

I don't just lean toward Katana, I jump both feet in. I tried the PodGo and HX Stomp. Those really let me down. They are just not ideal for expression of your guitar playing. Seems no matter what I put in I got a flawless computerized tone. That can be good or bad depending on what you want... I like my tone to be true to my playing. Not just lifeless and perfect all the time.

I drive the katana with 81/60 and noticed a lot of noise when I go for a heavy sound especially if you put a booster in. Kinda hate to constantly need to use the volume pot. My cube didn't have this issue. And yes I'm aware of the noise gate feature in the software side, but it kills the sound whenever put to a working setting :D

Great video, the surprise for me because the Spider wins hands down.

I hate my spider ii 120 212... Can’t seem to get a decent lightly overdriven tone
