To only say Poland is flat is missing a lot of key elements, like marshes or swamps, or dense forests plus muddy and murky coast lines with rocks. Poland while surrounded has historically made amazing use of its advantages which allow them to have very good cavalry that dominated Eastern Europe during 1400s to 1600s.
