damn, its completely a different thing on bass. raking on bass refers to hitting the next string up without alternating fingers. it can be used for every time the next note in the line is played on the adjacent lower string, or for quick ghost notes if you mute the next lower string/strings with your left hand. so it works in the opposite direction to using a pick. (lower as in pitch)
