Around when I started university in the UK and it was amazing how many different bands and songs were bubbling under. You had the 3 channels of the britpop, trip-hop and the major dance DJs. I think you had 1 Blur and 1 Prodigy in there. There was also Oasis, Supergrass and Pulp with breakthrough albums, Portishead were huge, Massive Attack - Protection too, plus comeback albums from Suede and the Stone Roses
