Did you know this? Magnets are very easy to fool when it comes to testing gold. Always use an acid test! 🤩

Better hope its a thin plating. Fischer XRF works great too. Some of the Italian knock offs are triple plated around 100-120 μm. You can tell just by looking at those two chains what one is fake, solid 24k jewelry is not common in the united states, 24 k has a very distinct color compared to 18, 14, or 10k. Depending on the metal mixed in the 10k alloy you may have magnetic properties but “blue gold” is very rare.

I’d add to this you can use the magnet to tell if it’s fake just don’t use it to tell if it’s real. If it sticks to the magnet no need to do any further test it’s fake but not all fake will stick to magnet.

This is idiotic, its called a FIRST TEST.
You dont use it to know for sure it’s real, but if it’s steel like many are, then you can know for sure it is fake. This is extremely basic and you should know something like this

nah magnet test sucks, only way 100% test is scratch on black stone and use nitric acid
