Directed by Jeremiah Crowell. Starring Joey Slotnick. Written by John Flansburgh and David Cowles. Yeti played by Chris Anderson.

Hello mind. It’s good to be awake again
Spend some time reflecting
Hello hand. We all salute you hand
Five fingers strong. It’s good to have you back again

Hello eye. The complicated eye
Focused so hard on inspecting
Hello leg. Such a shaky leg
Just barely more than decoration

I’m not a motivational speaker
but on this I have arrived
It’s good to be alive
Good to be alive

Hello hand. We all salute you hand
Five fingers strong. It’s good to have you back again

I’m not some mega-church style preacher but my spirit is revived
It’s good to be alive. Good to be alive. Yeah.
I’m not a life coach or some teacher but I think we’ll all survive
It’s good to be alive. Good to be alive. Yeah.

this song hits different after flans' accident. I'm so grateful that he survived. The world wouldn't be the same without him.

“I’m not some mega-church style preacher but my spirit is revived” this might be my new favorite Flansburgh lyric

Flansburgh delivers an emotional, poignant song about existentialism. And the video is about a Yeti attack. I love you guys.

It's good you are alive, Flans. Speedy recovery and I'll see you and Linnel in Buffalo at the Town Ballroom in September 😁🤟

Singing this hits different when you have nothing to live for. Feels comforting

Glad to know you're still alive, John F!

i'd like to think the yeti and the man resolve their differences after the camera fades out.

Apropos that Flansburgh was the one who sung this, given recent events.

I know this was not necessarily the purpose of this song, but I am autistic and as a result, I am usually disoriented for a long time in the morning because I can't connect to the rest of my body. This song is actually extremely helpful, it actually helps talk me through the process of waking up. Thank you TMBG!

May Flans recover quickly. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

With all the songs about death and deep regret, it's nice to hear a TMBG song about life and hope for a change. Stalking Yeti aside.
I also enjoy the way the song followed the progress of consciousness, bodily awareness, vision, and touch.

What an excellent showcase for the accordion. Flansburgh continues his winning streak! The man is on fire (combustible head!)

That ending. Poor guy.
Forever chased by yetis.

Love how the opening synth implies minor followed by the guitar that plays the relative major for 2 measures before it find the key implied by the opening synth. All the while, the synth line doesn't change. This is a real stand-out on an album that feels little rushed in its overall development.

And this.
They are timeless chants for broken souls.

Thanks for so much joy through many years.

Emotional recovery and healing are almost always an ongoing and gradual process, but in some rare cases, we really do just wake up one morning and feel that the pain we were dealing with is gone. I think that's what this song is about.

I love this song. It shuts up unnecessary bad thoughts that run in circles the moment i wake up. For that reason I've turned playing it into part of my regular morning exercise :) feels good.
