This song was created as a tribute to his parents. Joost was orphaned at a young age

The song represents Dutch hardcore history, but it also has a deeper meaning. The ending breaks my heart where he seranades his parents, who passed away at a young age. His papa always told him to believe in expanding borders and now he's done it.

Joost made music in this original DUTCH style before Kaarj even made music

The last part of the song says: At the end of the day, we're all human beings. my father told me, its a world without borders. "i miss you every day", is what i secretly whisper. you see dad, i listend to you.

Joost klein is groot! He dedicated this song to his father who died when he was 12 years old. His dad taught him that the world has no true boundaries. His mother died when he was 13. He is a huge inspiration to young folks. He is such a legend the world needs more people like Joost. He has gone through so many challenges in life, it is a true inspiration to see how he deals with it. Joost klein, droom groot.❤

It's like what he sings about Stromae. First time you hear it sounds funny but the real meaning of the song is very beautiful.

Some interesting facts:
Joost Klein is maybe more popular in Germany and Belgium then in the Netherlands itself. He even had a number 1 hit in Germany with Friesenjung.

The list of people who are in the video:
In the dinner scene you can see: Rene Froger (De Toppers - ESC 2009) S10 (ESC 2022), Donnie (Dutch rapartist, cowrote the song) and Emma Wortelboer (tv presenter, gave the televote points in 2019).

On the tv is Tim Haars with a typical New Kids line. New Kids was a tvshow in the Netherlands and Germany, following a group lowbeat hangyouth, with a huge cult following.

In the car at the end the one and only DJ Paul Elstak. He remixed the song at the end. He is one of the early adopters of the 90s happy hardcore/rave sound. A wave which was massive in the Netherlands.

His father died when he was 12 and his mother when he was 13. So “papa” is like father or dad in Dutch. So the song is kind of about his dad. In the end he talks about his dad.

This is a masterpiece!!! This is the winner of Eurovision Songcontest 2024. No doubt. Europapa = Eurodad. 12 points for The Netherlands. An ode to his father who passed away when he was 12 years and his mother who passed away when he was 13 years. His father told him that there are no borders, no limits. Go travel and discover Europe and the world. He promised his father that one day he will be singing at the Eurovision. They used to watch it together when he was a child. Now he made it, because he will be on stage this year. The fire simbolise letting go of the pain no having his parents and the start of a new chapter in his life.

Heyhey! Here’s the translation to the ending!!!

What he says roughly translates to

‘At the end of the day we’re all just people, my father used to tell me it’s a world without grenzen (grenzen, means borders but it also translates to limitations). I miss you everyday is what I quietly whisper, see dad? In the end I always listened’ referring to the advice he gave him.

He always told his parents who both passed he wanted to go to Eurovision and now he made it, taking after his fathers advice not to feel limited since the world is beyond limitation if you’re willing to work hard for it.

I get that most people, especially when you’re not from Holland, will not get everything on the first listen. This is classic Joost; he talks about difficult things but makes it sounds so fun. He always uses a lot of puns in his songs, which are hilarious when you get them. I love this song, love the fact that people love it. Full circle moment for Joost, he’s gonna be great

The last part is about his dad, who he lost to cancer at a young age. Shortly after he also lost his mother, that explains the end. He told his dad that one day he would be singing at the Eurovision, now he finally made it. It represents a full circle, he loves his parents really much, but he needs to leave the pain and the hurt in the past so he can open a new chapter in his life, hence why the picture is burning.

The whole song is so happy and hyperactive and then it ends so, emotional...The ending hits so freaking hard
