In contrast to the happy melody the lyrics show the cracks in his mask off being a happy guy.
- I have lost everything but the time
- I am in Germany but still I am alone, I am in Italy and still it hurts.
- I am running from myself and cry for help
Even stromae's song papaoutai is a mention to his death father as stromae also lost his father.
Also a lot off stuff in the video really makes clear he's still stuck in the past. Stuff like the punk clothing and the nitendo sp is verry 2000's, the time when Joost was a kid. At the end the buring is him wanting to move on not be stuck in his grieve forever.

Ladies and gentleman, I think you just saw the winner of Eurovision Songcontest 2024. This is awesome. A masterpiece!
12 points to The Netherlands.

Thank you for this great review of Euro papa = Euro dad.

The song was to honour his dad who passed away when he was 12 and a few months later his mother also died. He was then brought up by his brother and sister. His father told Joost to write poetry, so that is what he does now. You now hopefully understand better the last sad ending. The song lyrics are very sad, so have another look at the song and review it again, knowing his backstory. The burning house in the end is Joost leaving the past behind and build a new future while honouring his parents.

This songis real art ! So many double messages. The song makes me feeling happy, sad and it gives me energy at the same time. How is that even possible. Respect !

Joost lost both his parents as teenager.
He travelled through Europe to try to fill the emptiness.
There is a longer outro version, very poetic.

Little bit of background on this song. He was creative from a very young age and also a bit different. His father said that there are no boundaries and he should follow his dreams. They always watched the Eurovision Songfestival together so as a kid he replied that his dream would be to go to the Eurovision Songfestival. Then his dad passed away when he was 12 and his mother when he was 13. For inspiration and acceptance of the loss of his parents he travelled trough Europe. Therefore he sings that the pain and emptiness stayed with him no matter where he went. He paid for mental help but it did not work for him. Still he managed to be a very positive and joyful person as reflected in this song. He sings about the song Papaoutai from Stromae that is also about missing his father. In all of this he managed to combine lot's of cultural aspects of different European countries and the Netherlands. Without the layer of his personal life you will notice that a lot of elements can directly be related to the European countries. The young boy and the old man represent him and his father struggling trough life and his father being an example for him. The windmill is near where he spend his youth so also a trip trough memory lane to him. The final emotional scene represents him as a kid and his father when it all ended, the burning of the family photo and the building represents that you need to move on in life and not be stuck in the past. In the end he tells that he listened to his father (there are no borders for your dreams) and refers to him going to the Eurovision Songfestival. So winning would be optional, his goal was participation.

Hello lovely people. Some info about Gabber.

The music style originated in the early 90's in Holland and is overall better known as Hardcore. To be more specific this is the subgenre Happy hardcore.

Later on it picked up the terms gabber and in media gabberhouse. The fans of the genre used to wear Australian and Cavello tracksuits and nike air max aka Maxxies. Sometimes paired with Levi 501 jeans. Other style aspects are the shaved head or sideshave and tight bound ponytail. You can see all these aspects in the clip.

The followers of the music and style call(ed) themselfs gabbers which is kinda like "friends".

The dance style is known as Hakken or gabberen.

Interchangeable of the word gabber is a tad confusing for those not exposed to the scene but it allows for funny wordplay though.

The Gabbers gabbered on gabber.

Though Europapa starts in a bit of Eurobeat style everyone who heard hardcore here knew right there to get the maxxies ready hahaha

Hardcore at 20 years after I hung my double sided Aussie up. Damn what a boss!!

Douze points Jongûh

Maaskantje rules. DJ Paul Elstak - king of Gabber. Gabber royalty!

Do you know that Joost Klein comes from Friesland in the Netherlands? It is the same place where Jeon Somi's family originates from. Fun fact: Somi's real name sounds even more Friesian: Ennik Douma.

Super video!!✌
(The background and meaning of Joost Klein 'Europapa')
This is what Joost said about the song: "'Europapa' is a tribute to my father.
The song is a letter I wrote to my father, who died when I was a teenager."
'Europapa' is about an orphan who travels through Europe to find himself and tell his story.

My father gave me a broad view of the world.
Boundaries are made by people,
but my father told me that you can also set boundaries yourself by thinking out of the box.
At first people didn't know me,
but I continue to take every opportunity to show myself.

When people see my act,
the first response should be, “What's going on here?”
and ultimately it touches people and makes them think.
'Europapa' initially seems like a very cheerful act,
but behind that lies a deeper message.

(Background info from Joost Klein)
Joost Klein (26) is from the Netherlands.
Joost, is a Dutch musician, rapper, singer and former YouTuber.

At the age of twelve he lost his father to cancer.

Hey happy boys!! 😊 AS you know I am from the Netherlands !! ❤ 😁 🍀 I am your long - subscribed FAN and SUPPORTER!! - AND *MCND* FAN 😊❤
🌟Thanks for reacting on the ENTRY of our song for EUROVISION 2024, *THE BIGGEST MUSIC EVENT IN THE WORLD* ! ( 500 million viewers!! )
🌟 He is a superstar in our country AND EUROPE and performs on music festivals for 10.000's of people ( search in YOU TUBE please ) 🙏🏻❤
🌟 Some background for YOU : Joost lost both of his parents by the age of only 13. This song is an ode to his dad, 'papa' in Dutch (Euro'Papa'). He told Joost that there are no borders and limits. In the song Joost basically tells his dad: I'm travelling to Euro 'Papa' (travelling to Europe dad). But although he travels Europe, the pain of losing them travels with him everywhere he goes. In the end he tells his dad: I listened to you. The family photo and house burning means he is ready to let the pain go. Like burning bridges.
🌟I think it is pure genius to wrap such a heavy theme in such a happy song. Piece of art and very cacthy. THANKS AGAIN Take care! ✌ And stay safe & HEALTHY ❤🌷 JOERI 🇳🇱
