I have to admit. I was alot like one of these kids.. arrogant. Knew it all . Thought i was better than anyone. It wasnt until i joined the Army when i experienced a coach carter like mentor that put my stupid ass in place. It made me a better man than what i was and I'm glad there are people out there like coach carter.

Samuel L Jackson portrays a good educator, before he played Coach Carter, he played Trevor Garfield on One Eight Seven. That's one of his least talked about movies but imo one of his very best.

as someone that went to some ghetto-ss high school in the hood, the ghetto speak and body language is as authentic as it gets, the first time seeing this movie in the mid 2000s, felt like I was back in school, hearing my schoolmates speak and argue. I also recommend, Freedom Writers starring Hillary Swank, it is not about Basketball high schoolers, but it bears very similar themes, abeit, early 90s high school nostalgia.

There should be more coaches like him that demands respect. We only get respect when we give respect. The coaches nowadays, are baby sitters, but there are some coaches that gets respect, not by name but by demonstrating respect.

I absolutely love this movie. I don't believe teachers should hit kids. But he didn't hit him LOL. And if a young man like that, can throw hands at a teacher. Then the teacher can throw hands back in my opinion... Need actual teachers like this
