I wanted a dog when I was 11 so my mom bought me a robot dog. I hated that thing the second I got it.

I once didn't feel comfortable around dogs for years; but when my husband finally agreed to get our 10 year old daughter a dog, it was the best thing for the family.  I LOVE MY DOG!  He loves us unconditionally; and very protective.  His name is Jimmy; a yorkie-terrier mix.  Thank God for Jimmy :)  Hopefully that lady will change her mind.

This is like something my mom did to me. When i was 8 I was always begging my mom for a dog. So she she told me if I brought home a good report card she would buy a dog. So I brought home a straight A report card and she took me to build a bear and let me build my own stuffed dog. Then said "there's your dog"

If she knows she can’t handle a dog because of her fear we should all just appreciate the fact that she hasn’t bought/ rescued one just to then realise she can’t handle it and take the poor thing back to the shelter. It’s better for people who know they don’t like dogs to just not get one rather than get one and get rid of it or not love it etc.

I personally love dogs and have 2 of my own, I couldn’t imagine not living with dogs but this lady is scared, I applaud her for not getting one and getting rid, she knows what she likes and what she doesn’t like.

My mom is scared of dogs too. She talks about getting a dog sometimes because she knows my dad loves dogs, but we all know it would make her miserable to have to live with a dog. The fear doesn't go away just because you want it to. It doesn't even need to make sense, it's not okay to make people compromise on something they're afraid of. Best option would be to try therapy to reduce the anxiety being felt so that then it can be a discussion of practicality rather than fear.

If she gets a puppy she'll grow to love the dog... Animals are just like ppl so their isn't a major difference (eat, sleep, 💩, talk back, learn...)

People want to call her selfish but she's the only one out of the husband, wife, Steve and audience that was willing to compromise. Just because one person likes something it's not fair to force it on another person. Especially when it is just an opinion and no help would actually be there for her out of all these people with their strong opinions.

I am scared of dogs too my whole life. In recent years though I have gotten better. I find if I see how owners react kind or friendly their dogs tend to be better tempered. If they pull their dog away from me I get scared. As a result I absolutely love two of my neighbors dogs. I pet them and hug them when I see them 4 years ago I would have never.

My little boy cried for a dog about a year straight when he was 4 yrs old. My husband came home one night with a little box he put down near the heater (winter time and the kids were in bed). He told me I'd better look in the box right away. It was the cutest puppy for our son. One year of crying! 😢
