When planning for a DIY or renovation project, there are lots of things to account for. Cost of materials. Labor bills and inconveniences. Maintenance fees. Traditionally these types of projects include drywall, but in this video, HGTV host and professional contractor Bryan Baeumler compares the installation speed of drywall alternative Trusscore Wall&CeilingBoard and traditional drywall on a typical 8’x10’ room.

As Bryan explains, Trusscore Wall&CeilingBoard installs four times faster than drywall. There’s no taping. No mudding. No sanding. And no painting. Faster installation means far less money spent on installation — projects are completed in a few hours instead of a few days.

Trusscore Wall&CeilingBoard is strong and durable yet extremely lightweight, meaning it’s do-it-yourself friendly – you won’t require extra hands for ceiling jobs.

Trusscore is transforming residential and commercial construction. Our PVC-based wall and ceiling panels are easy-to-install and high-performance replacements for traditional wall coverings like drywall.

Being an ex-drywall tech, I can see the appeal but, how is it for sound and fire? Sheet rock is used as fire-stop, particularly in kitchens and garages. This stuff seems like it would just melt, letting a garage fire easily take out the house... Hmmm

I'd maybe use it in a rec room, garage or shed, but that's about it, I want seamless walls

I just installed some in a garage. It isn't as easy as they show. Especially single-handed. I had to screw a board into the joists ahead to help support while I fit the T&G. It is clean looking in a utility way. The joints aren't necessarily water tight because they have to be loose enough for expansion. The hardest thing about the installation was the finishing details, which the mfg vaguely addresses. You can't face fasten it because of expansion. So, the last piece needs to be inserted into the leading edge groove and then pried into the channel on three sides. There's no easy way to do it without tearing up the j-channel. I ended up ripping some vinyl composite boards to trim and support the last piece. Looks fine in a garage. It has a gloss finish. It's pretty durable but can get scratched.

Many jurisdictions require Type-X 5/8" drywall in garage ceilings with a 1 hour fire rating. Also in the south interior walls should be able to dry to the inside which requires vapor permeable materials. While the material may not grow mold it seems it would trap moisture and grow mold on wall assemblies.

Maybe all that is described in its technical data and installation instructions

Works on nice straight walls...but what about older homes which may be out of square?

How warm would this product keep you in the winter, sound barrier, fire rating and most importantly the price. How does this fair with the house shifting? Floors can pop up on you with spacing these panels look tight what happens when they start to compress. Hope you have answers for all these questions in the cooments if you're going to put your name on this product.

This is not a drywall replacement. It is mostly used in detached garages, car washes, pool rooms etc... If you are doing the interior of a house, 99% of the time it will not be trusscore

It has its use for a garage. Other than that, you're not replacing drywall. This is essentially siding for the inside of a home.

Its being installed now where i work in a crab processing plant seems very strong and you can hose it down it has inside corners and such and you can make it watertight. Good for a bathroom I think. It goes together like laminate flooring and your screw the outside edge. As for putting it on a complete home hmm Idk But it does have its applications when installed it looks fantastic clean and shiny you can hardly see the lines.

Drywall adds to the structural components of your home, supplies an added R value, is seemless and can add a fire rating where needed. The panels seem neat. Just not for me.

Looks perfect ....to go OVER drywall to just avoid the sanding and painting and add some waterproofing and easy clean up.

I’m assuming it’s about 3-4 times more expensive than a sheet of drywall. Can you paint it? Does paint stick properly? Can you repair a section without removing the whole wall? Lots of things to think about other than “install time”.

And can you hang things from it with anchors as heavy as you can from rock. Or do you have to always have to find a stud? Inquiring minds want to know. And does the product cost less than sheet rock per square foot not counting labor? Sheetrock gives added structural integrity. I'll bet this stuff doesn't !

Drywall, the tape and joint compound are all devices and there are specific code issues for compliance for fire code.. your material looks excellent and I have no idea if it complies with local building codes but you have to submit material list with drawings and at that time you will know if the device qualifies for NEC and NFPA requirements.. drywall is approved to encapsulate Romex electric wiring and also is a barrier to block PVC from direct exposure to UV..

When you install any wall board you lay them down not up so they cover more studs. This gives you more strength, smother wall with less bumps or waves. You never stand wall board for this reason. Your product might work if they can be installed horizontally and not vertically but if not will be staying with sheetrock.

I helped a friend hang drywall in his new house years ago. That was work, but I think the drywall screws caused most of my problems. I believe they are pointed on both ends!!

Thinking this would be good not as a replacement for drywall but in addition to as a decorative and resistant covering.

Does it come in different colors or can you paint it?

Are they fire rated as well as drywall? What about rigidness? These look very cheap, especially when installing over bare framing..they basically look about the same as a thick FRP

As far as the mudding, taping, and sanding, well, I did it, after my son put up the sheet rock, with no prior experience. It looks pretty good.
