Was SCP-682 Really That Hard to Kill After All?

SCP 682 is a Keter Class anomaly also known as Hard to Destroy Reptile.
SCP 173 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Sculpture.

SCP-682 is a large, vaguely reptile-like creature of unknown origin. It appears to be extremely intelligent, and was observed to engage in complex communication with SCP 079 during their limited time of exposure. SCP682 appears to have a hatred of all life, which has been expressed in several interviews during containment.

SCP-173 is constructed from concrete and rebar with traces of Krylon brand spray paint. SCP173 is animate and extremely hostile. The object cannot move while within a direct line of sight. Line of sight must not be broken at any time with SCP-173. Personnel assigned to enter container are instructed to alert one another before blinking. Object is reported to attack by snapping the neck at the base of the skull, or by strangulation.

For those wondering about the redesign of 173:The SCP universe does have many anomalies, and their interpretations are under free use. There is but one exception to this rule. 173. Designed by Japanese artist Izumi Kato, he wasn't aware until a little while back that his work was being used for 173. He graciously allowed the SCP wiki to keep it if it wasn't being used for commercial purposes. However, the SCP Foundation still took it down out of respect for Kato's intentions when making the piece, and the number of people trying to profit off of SCP merch, which would surely include 173 at some point. In short, 173 has undergone a redesign, and this new model in the video is akin to the one in the Unity game. However, due to how poorly the model looks, with the OG head being used and it just overall not looking very appealing, its very likely they had these videos in the works already when the redesign happened, so they just took the head off of the OG model and slapped it onto some wire metal monster, maybe a model for a SCP like the Clockworks. If this is true, then its likely we'll get a more polished version.

TL:DR;SCP changed the design of 173 because out of respect for the OG artist, so they had to put something together quick to release these videos.

Never thought I'd agree with the reptile. But he's right, why waste so much resources in an useless attempt to destroy what cannot be destroyed if there's monsters out there that are far more evil like the old man?

If these foundation researchers would try to eliminate something far more cruel as 682 with the same attempts made with 682, maybe it would show success

Well he’s not wrong. 682’s claim did in fact come true in a story involving 173 where it multiplied and spread across the globe. These clones seemingly murdering everyone on the planet, foundation included. The story ended with Dr. Bright giving one final video recording of his status before presumably getting attacked by an SCP 173 copy.

One thing I have never understood when it comes to scp-173 is the procedures for moving it. Their are all of these extensive precautions for dangerous scps, yet nobody thought about attaching lights to scps 173 or putting it on a pad surrounded by lights so in case of a power outage, eye contact can still be maintained

I like this take on SCP-682, because it feels more realistic (in the SCP world). After all, one of the big possibilities for killing SCP-682 was a nuke, but that was denied because of the chance that it survived and adapted to it, but now you have stories about SCP-682 growing to the size of planets and eating Earth because it got sent on a rocket to space. What I'm saying is that I like SCP-682 when it's extremely difficult to destroy, and the methods to do so could be disastrous, but not impossible.

I'd always wished that there was someone who'd just talk to 682, it's plenty smart enough to reason with, and I know it doesn't want to be torturered. Sure it's evil, but that doesn't mean it's always going to be, especially given a better life
