Microsoft has officially ended extended support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 in January of 2023. But can you still use this OS and is it safe?

Windows 7 was released in October of 2009. Back then the world of computers was different and some would argue - better. 13 years later now that security support is no longer there is Windows 7 safe to use today?

Honestly windows 7 is still in my opinion the best version of windows Microsoft ever made. It 100% runs faster than 10

I'm still using Windows 7 and everything works flawlessly, plays all the games and runs all software I need it to. I really don't want to upgrade to 10 or 11 - they're just so anti-user and privacy. In fact, I've been using this same installation of 7 since 2015. Rock-solid.

There are LOADS of folks still using Windows 7! One thing I REALLY miss about Windows 7, is the folders retained ALL their properties, each folder customized, size, position, content, everything.

Windows 7 is still the best looking windows ever. I'm even thinking of installing it again on my gaming PC after having windows 10 for so many years. The only thing holding me back is new games not supporting windows 7 😢

As somebody who was born in the early 2000s, I am happy I got to experience Windows 7 during my childhood. It will always be the most beautiful, finished, and polished OSs Microsoft provided.

I still use Windows 7 on my gaming computer. As long as the games are compatible, nothing will make me change. I've used Windows 10 a lot, but nothing like the nostalgia of Windows 7.

I miss not having two damn control panels so much... Windows 7 was the best and we didn't knew it 😢

Also, Microsoft’s spying is so extensive in Win10, it’s impossible to assert that Win10 is more secure than Win7.

Still using windows 7. I'd like to point out that you cannot upgrade to windows 11 unless you have drivers for the laptop model provided by the laptop company. Cheers!

It’s a bit surprising that Surfshark is doing os things now. Anyway, Windows 7 brings back a big wave of nostalgia!

Still rocking windows 7, with the help of dxvk and vxkex alot of modern games can run perfectly fine on windows 7.

I am using Linux 99% of the time. However, I use AutoCAD for my work and AutoCAD doesn't run on Linux so I have a separate computer with Windows 7, just for AutoCAD. I did try Windows 10 but in my experience AutoCAD runs better on Windows 7. I have to add that I started using computers when Windows 95 was a hit.

Windows 7 is honestly one of the most complete OS ever made. Seriously what other OS besides XP was this perfect?

I still run Windows 7, I use 10 and 11 at work, and 7 just feels nicer. My little Windows 7 computer actually outperforms most other computers today.

Windows 7 can be made to run "fine" on modern 2023 hardware, which would be interesting to see a video about. The only caveat in running a dual-boot Win7/Win10 machine (on an Intel 10th gen machine) is: CSM=enabled for Win7 to boot to desktop. Win7 can be installed on a modern system with AHCI mode & GPT formatted SSD & with CSM=disabled, but the final boot to desktop will require switching the bios setup to CSM=enabled. Also: if using an official Win7 installation disc, may require using a PS/2 mouse, until the correct USB driver can get installed.

Anyone remember the community connect 4 wallpapers that school computers would always have? (It had an icon of a 4 with an asterisk shape in the middle).
