Windows 7 literally had a slogan "Your PC, simplified".

"I don't know anyone who still uses VLC"

What else are we supposed to be using?

It sucks companies basically force you to make an account to view their stuff

As a Windows 7 defender, I only have one thing to say: Kalimba was the best Windows pack-in song.

VLC rescued people of early 2000 from the codecs hell and is still the best video player for all desktop platforms. But yet you dare to spit on the hero's face.

Windows 7 is still my favorite Windows Version. I love the UI, and the other new stuff 7 brought to the table. If you still want the 7 magic, that’s what third party and Linux themes are for!

If only Windows 7 had a Second Edition. Same 7, but compatible with modern stuff...

Windows 7 was such a legendary OS.

A true modern successor to Windows XP, security vulnerabilities and all.

i think the easier question would be, what can you not do... i think it boils down to a handful of online games that mandate specific anti-cheat methods (core isolation, tpm, secure boot etc.) or those that exclusively want a fully fledged directx 12 implementation. and then you have some huge application suites like from adobe who just artificially put a stop to launching their software in windows 7, simply because they do not "want to support" it anymore. yet, adobe creative cloud versions 2020/2021 still work on windows 7. and these have a very very rich feature set already. so if you want to avoid using win10 or even win11 then there is not much you have to leave behind.

i really miss Windows 7, still can't believe it has some people still using to this day. i would still thank Vista for it's advancements and especially it's Aero Theme

Who's watching this on Windows 7?

The skeymorphic UI of Vista and 7 still has a special space in my heart. I'd kill for such a UI in modern OSs. I just deeply dislike the modern simplistic UIs. Why not even have the choice of the 3d glass transparent effects?

Abandoning an os should be illegal
It isnt a subscription. You paid for it. Why are you forcing us to upgrade our pcs AND operating systems

Literally everything I wanted to use was still working on WIndows 7 up until last year. Didn't have to do any weird workarounds. I really only switched to Windows 11 because steam stopped working. If you played super modern games, Windows 7 probably stopped working way earlier, but I mostly play games that are 5 to 10 years old so for me everything worked flawlessly. If Windows 7 was still supported by steam I would have no issues using it today.

(And no, viruses were never an issue for me, if you are smart on the internet you have nothing to worry about even when using an old unsupported version. It's mostly just fear mongering that makes people think old unsupported versions will somehow self destruct as soon as you go to one sketchy website)

I see Windows 7 like I do a classic car. If it still works for all your use cases, then it's perfectly fine and anyone trying to tell you that you are wrong for using it because "it's not modern" can screw off. Even after being on Windows 11, it literally doesn't do anything I couldn't already do in 7. The times of OS upgrades being actually meaningful are behind us, unless you use niche modern features. If a classic OS works fine for all your use cases and you protect yourself from any viruses, you have nothing to worry about and you aren't "wrong" for using it. Different tools for different people. A modern OS isn't objectively better than Windows 7. If anything, all the stupid crap they cram in now a days probably means you are better off using an older OS if you can manage.

Still rocking Windows 7 on my 13 year old laptop, I only use it to listen to music, use messaging apps, and occasionally play Brawlhalla, a 2D fighting game, it still does it's job pretty well!

Windows 7 is/was a terrific and the fairest operating system and many people loved it. It was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009
