The irony here is that Rocky's loss came from the fact that he wasn't training hard enough or taking Lang seriously, a mistake that Apollo also made with Drago later which led to his loss and unfortunately, his death as well. Rocky was lucky Lang didn't literally kill him on their first match.

When I first saw this part, I knew Rocky was toast. Clubber was training like he is going all in and ready to die if he has too, while Rocky is being pampered, slacking and no hunger.

Mickey knew the score....he knew Rocky couldn't win, he didn't have that killer instinct like Clubber. He did what he could to protect himself and Rocky, unfortunately, Rocky's hubris cost Mickey his life.

I love how the music gets more black when Clubber is training...more sax, jazzier. That's hilarious. It turns in to a Shaft made for TV movie every time they cut to him.
