Phones had cords. No social media. People talked to each other. Families went church and had supper and dinner together every night. Bands wrote love songs and ballads. It wasnt a law to wear seat belts. Drinking age in some states was 18. People fell in love. Freedom was real.

This song reminds me of my friend Susan, back in the late 60’s early 70’s we were in Jr high, Susan was a scrawny little girl, we had a school dance and Susan’s parents were there. Her dad walked onto the stage and asked Susan to join him, this guy was next to her dad, he sang this song to her and when he was finished he proposed to her, our mouths just dropped, but she said yes and her dad gave his blessing. Susan said the only thing her dad made him promise was that Susan Was to graduate from high school and for her to not get pregnant until after she graduated, and the guy kept his promise. As far as I know, their still married, the guy was a close family friend of theirs
