This is the BEST tutorial ever for Johnny B Goode

This is well done. You give a full play thru with vocal right up front. No time wasted. You showed right up front that you know what you are teaching. Then jump right into the lesson without a lot of talking. Great lesson!

as we used to say old school (make that prehistoric school) your playing is the cat's meow, in today's vernacular, you be rockin' it big time.. you made this old man's day!!

This deserves more views. Lots of lessons for this song, but the full performance with close ups really adds something.

Six years later, here I am. Sounds terrific, and I especially like the backing track which has the drums playing the correct shuffle beat. Almost every version I hear gets this wrong. Shuffle, man, shuffle.

I've been watching you for about 2/1/2 yrs you're finger positions are very clear, and unlike other guitarist's, where you lay the fingers is so, very clear 😅 keep it up bro😊!

I have been practicing guitar now for five years roughly. Always been rhythm work with acoustic. But now I'm trying to learn blues lead and this is the song I dreamed of playing when I started. Your lesson is so easy to follow, I'm gonna get this! Thanks for the video. Nicely done and easy to follow

I study a lot of guitar lessons on u tube and you are tuning out to be the one I go to the most. I like how you do the hole song and how you break it down and how you make it easy to understand and on top of all that, you are just flat out GOOD. I sometimes get in a slump and don't play for long periods at a time, but tuning on one of your videos is the answer for that problem. You inspire the hell out of me, the good hell that is. I've learned a lot from you so far. Your a great teacher, singer and guitar player hope you stay around a long time. Thank You

Great job on the guitar lesson. It was very thourgh, as you went slowly took the time to explain the chords used and in the order they are implemented and when the changes are. I am senior beginner at 62 years old and this will help me tremendously. I have been a Chuck Berry music fan since I was a young boy and will always be, as I love his poetically influenced style songs combined with his original innovative style of guitar playing. "Johnny B.Goode" came to be known as his signature song, though he had recorded many songs he left an indelible mark in music history. Though he is gone now, he left behind his music for everyone to enjoy. This very song is on the Voyager 1 satellite sent up into space in 1977 on a gold plated disc, the only rock and roll song chosen for the disc " The Sounds of Earth", and is now billions of miles away in interstellar space. In Rick Nelson's 1972 hit "Garden Party" he pays homage to Chuck Berry in the song with the lyrics: "someone opened up the closet door and out stepped Johnny B. Goode", as he was also known. Thank you so much for posting this video.

Good lesson. I have been playing most of the song essentially the same way, but the part I found most helpful is how you play at 1:28 in your video. That's the hardest part of the whole song and I realize I have been playing that part wrong. I will be learning to play it the way you do.
After watching your lesson I went back to the original Chuck Berry recording and found a few "surprises" that I hadn't noticed before:
1. There is rhythm guitar "shuffle" being played during Chuck's lead. I always thought Chuck was switching between lead and rhythm. (A second guitarist? I don't know if they were doing multi-track recording in the 1950s or not.)
2. An inconsistency by Chuck or his band at 0:13 in the original recording when the rhythm shuffle goes from F to D#, rather than going from F directly back to A# as it does in the rest of the song.
3. The rhythm guitar goes to low F at 1:37 and again at 1:57 in the original recording.
