Shadow's Breakdown - Sonic the Hedgehog Comic Dub

This comic actually took how Shadow's been acting out of character for the past few games and made a good justification for it? Wow. Didn't think it was possible.

Wow, just, wow. Everyone always talks about an emotional Sonic, which would be fair, but no one talks about emotional Shadow. I mean, he’s been through so much, and still finds a way to go on. It would be more than understandable for him to have a breakdown. Poor guy.

This is what we mean when we say we want a more mature story. Let them show weakness, actual emotion. Not just the plastered on smirk and brooding. Sonic himself has been through more adventures than anyone else. There's no way he doesn't have some sort of regret or experience that sticks with him in a bad way. Let them struggle. Let them have sudden outbursts of emotion, let the dam break. That's when you see who they truly are

I think I know why Shadow had this emotional breakdown: Shadow always pushes himself to defend the world because of the promise that he made to Maria. But all he wanted was Maria to live, to be happy, and to enjoy life just like everyone else. And he feels responsible for Maria's death and thinks that she would still be alive if Shadow wasn't created in the first place. And he is even fed up with people reminding him that he has to be the one to pay for Maria's death. And he's tired of everything that he had to be put through, including himself. And it does hurt. And even Sonic, Shadow’s arch-rival, understood that. Shadow is the most tragic antihero *EVER!* Hope Paramount does justice to Shadow by making him tragic. So, in a nutshell, Shadow is still grieving over the loss of Maria. You can see and hear him grieve. He's still on the path of healing.

I really do hope something like this happens in the next Sonic movie. It would be a perfect way to transition Shadow and Sonic's rivalry into a relationship where they respect each other. I think having it near the climax of the movie would be really impactful, especially since the audience would be used to Shadow's cold and reserved personality by then. Watching such a strong person breakdown would really hit people in the gut, and I would want it to be enough so that you'd want to cry. Idk, its probably unlikely but it would be a nice way to expand why Shadow is the way he is.

Hot damn! This was intense! To see Shadow just throw his pride away and cry into Sonics arms shows his humanity and pain hes felt for so long. I have never seen Shadow cry once in any media. Maria was Shadows only friend on the ARK. He grew attached to her like that was basically his Mother like figure.

This is so deep and overwhelming. Shadow and Maria both really deserved better. His backstory is probably one of the most heartbreaking cartoon backstories that I’ll probably carry with me for the rest of my life.

This voice acting was just like a whole other thing, Voice acting was so good I actually felt for shadow. this should be in a movie, this could be in the sonic movie 3, it’s just so good it’s like I actually felt shadow’s pain, Amazing job as always

Seriously imagine if they did something like this in a game. That would literally change everything. It would be such a cool way to make shadows character interesting again. But the sega mandates say no! Because Shadow can only be Vegeta now.

This is why I watch dubs. They remind me not only why I love this franchise, but also why I thought of doing voices myself. My priorities have shifted a bit as I've gotten older, but maybe I can make space for this because I do genuinely love it. Keep up the awesome work!!!

The emotion for Shadow he did amazing and yes I cried when he cried bc I do care for Shadow and about Maria she does not deserve to be murdered why did she got shot by soldiers since she didn’t do anything wrong she’s not a threat to anyone I wish she lived more
