That was more of a difference than I was expecting. Very cool.

Even cheap pedals can make a cheap amp sound better. Some of those cheap pedals are really good today.

I was not expecting that! I've seen plenty of this style of video on other channels and it's usually a wash. Those pedals made a huge difference.

That amp sounds exactly the same as my little Randall NB15, and I noticed the same thing - a half decent distortion pedal through the clean channel sounds so much better than the amp’s distortion channel!

That was a wild demo! Loved hearing the history of this unique practice amp. The pedals are really an awesome feature in this light. Can not wait not see what makes it on the next episode. Thanks Phil!

Love the green Strat. I have a MIM, HH in ghost silver. Amazing the difference a decent pedal makes.

I always thought that if the amp is cheap anything guitar through it will sound cheap but i guess a great pedal can improve the amps tone. Stay Safe Phil!!!

Me having flashbacks to learning to play on a Gorilla amplifier, using my original MXR Distortion + for dirt, a Peavey CMC-1 Companded Chorus, and a Dunlop GCB-95 Wah.

Phil, I am the only person I know who had one of those noise machines. Gave it away to someone I hardly knew just to get rid of it. Thanks for the memory. Stay safe and have a great week!!👍👍😁

This is a good time to ask Phil this - can you do a video on amp placement, for practice, jamming, small shows, etc. Should it be close, far away, next to me, facing me, behind me, etc...

Wait, you have a Guinness World Record? For what? That’s insane!

Loved this video, proves that with a little research & effort, that anyone can create any amp that they want from a solid state basic clean. There were limitations, the amp's chassis circuit, the amp's speaker the most glaring in terms of MSRP price. After $ 250 in pedals, it was quite improved. I'm doing this with a 60W Pyle amp with reverb & $ 25-30 pedals. Where I am with it ? Well, I have a Klon Silver Centaur, a Big Muff Pi with a Proco Rat remaining. and I'm still way under budget for what a tube amp head will cost that I know will still need pedals. My best pedal is a VHT Reline V-Four, has OD, distortion & 2 metal modes as a pre-amp pedal.

Love the Henning Pauly reference! And wow, the pedal made that amp sound much bigger! That's the problem with these cheap amps - their clean tone is ok but the Overdrive channel is really bad. But they are a good basis for pedals.

Brand X was a great fusion band with Phil Collins in the 70's - 80's !

Very interesting video Phil. I would love to hear what cheap pedals can do to a cheap amp.

Ive heard that even some expensive pedals wont sound good on ss amps. So that would have been worth mentioning

To my ears the burnley and the burnley combined with the sioux pedal made the amp sound fuller and not as tinny. The sioux by itself didn’t seem to help. But appreciate the demo and it game me some ideas.

I had a Peavey amp, back when no one wanted a peavy amp 😂. Early 90s. Lately I’ve been leaning on fender amps but this reminds me of years of playing cheap amps, and guitars !
