We have often heard about the toxic sales culture at Byju’s, something I discussed in a previous video. But did you hear that Byju’s released its financial report for the FY21 recently? The Indian unicorn posted massive losses, while its revenues are lesser than the year before. Even then, Byju’s has continued to acquire companies like Aakash and Great Learning. How is that possible for a company which is struggling financially? More importantly, though, is a bigger question: Why is Byju’s struggling so badly? I discuss the intriguing answers to all these questions in the video.

Byju’s called my young brother and told him to join them because SRK is their brand ambassador. My young brother replied, “Uncle wo toh Vimal ki bhi ad karte hain, toh kya wo bhi kha lun?” 😂

I know how tough life a coder has. When I was contacted by them for my daughter. I simply told them - let my child remain a child and enjoy her childhood as world is competitive ahead and I dont want to ruin my daughter's childhood by letting her into the pressure. There is an age for everything, and when the right time comes, she will find out what she needs. In my opinion, as a parent we should provide an atmosphere where the child is not overwhelmed and overburdened.

As a software developer myself, I'm glad Byjus is proving itself to be the greatest failure in the history of modern Indian IT industry.

Byju's from the start was focused only on sales, sales, sales. I don't know the system now, but back in 2018, I was in mumbai and my flatmates worked with Byju's in Sales. They had to call first half of the day to book appointments and trial classes with "experts". Then second half of the day and Saturday, they themselves guised as the "experts" would then go to these addresses to give trial classes where they were specifically told by managers to show that their kid is slow. If a class 6 kid, is answering all questions correctly, ask them class 8, 9 or 10 questions. Then sell them the course. They knew somehow if you had an iPhone or a Bajaj finserv card, then the quotes had to be higher and persistant to ensure sales no matter what. That was the day I knew that this company may or may not be successful, but it definitely will never have my respect or money.

It was the year 2017 when I completed my BBA and wanted to do MBA from a good college. Coming from a closed-minded family and not-so-developed city, buying CAT preparation modules in tablet from Byjus felt like the right thing to do. I spent a whopping 25K on this. And trust me that is a lot for a middle-class family. Within a week I found out that I have received very old material from Byjus which has no relevance to the current exam pattern. I tried contacting their customer care team many times, but they just played games and didn't resolve the issue.
Byjus didn't just fail me with their product, but they failed me in my career in unexplainable ways.

Byjus is so pathetic that they have started targeting parents at mall. Can't imagine an edtech company trying to reach out to parents at malls. Scaring them how their child will be last in the race of life if they don't join Byjus.

I am a dropper student for jee... Few days ago I got a call from a Byjus salesperson... They asked me from where am I doing my jee preparation... When I told them I have taken a batch from pw... Their behavior suddenly changes... They started to force me to take their course by trying to convince me that cheap courses of pw can never compete with costly courses... But when I refused him... He becomes angry and started saying that I won't be successful... They disturbed so much that I have to block their Such a disgusting behavior of byjus salesperson.... They need to respect customer's choice 🙂

Reasons:
1. Over confidence
2. Spending on Brand Ambassador
3. Pandemic is no longer
4. People like me prefer in-person classes, not online
5. Online classes are completely waste for kids
6. Videos they showing are available for free everywhere
7. High prices

They took around 3 lakh rupees for my Tuition in 8th, 9th and 10th and all they did was teach the freaking same thing my teachers in school taught me. I'm not a bad person but I think they deserve it🙂.

2:15 "Kids of 6 - 7 years were landing jobs at Google". The moment I saw adverts like that, my mind immediately realized that it was all bogus. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in the US prohibits anyone from working at a job if they under the age of 14. How can Google violate this fundamental law and hire a 7 year old, especially if it is a US registered company? Every company has such a form of Child Labor act in place, so nowhere is it possible to hire a 7 year old as a coder.

We bought a Byju's subscription about 6 years back for both me and my brother, when he was in 6th standard and I was in 9th. Their 'counselor' came to our house, talked with our parents for a few hours and asked us a bunch of utter nonsense where he had to counter each of our answer with a different theory. I was quite shy then, so got along with whatever he said. Ultimately, he impressed our father with the concept of 'Byju's visual learning' and we bought the course from 7-12 grade with their special tablets. It was nothing extraordinary, our school teachers taught the same way. One could understand the stuff, but there was no means one could actually answer a question the way supposed to in exams. Just studying theory never helps. It was okay till class 10, but completely useless in 11th and 12th. The tablets were shitty too, and stopped working withing two years of usage.

It costed us a lot of money, and now that I have completed my schooling and my brother is in 11th, I can say that Byju's never had a share in our good marks, ever. It's time-consuming, costly and much less effective than they claim it to be. I hope people understand this and invest somewhere helpful.
Best wishes.

I'm a professional software developer and I was surprised to see the entire WhiteHat Jr. and Pradeep Punia episode unfold the way it did. I hope people learn to love the process rather than the end goal which is often hyped in predatory marketing practices of such soulless companies. Yes, it is true that coding can pay well. However, just like all aspects of life, it has its own challenges. At the end of the day, it comes down to individual's resolve. Moreover, what is more disturbing is the fact that these unrealistic claims put an unwarranted pressure on children and their parents. Something that can't be good in the long run. Byju ought to fail. For the greater good of the society.

Byju himself was a great teacher. Some of my friends attended his CAT coaching back in 2008(when he started). He was extremely good at quant and most of my friends(who were not that good in quant) went to premium institutes. When it became a corporation, the pressure for profit came which destroyed content first strategy.

let me tell you a real and personal story of mine. I was in class 10th when i met a byju's salesmen in my friends home. I also thought to sit there. here comes the main thing, he started asking his questions to me and my friends which were obv a little higher level of what we study till 10th, but i still managed to answer many of them. now his marketing strategy of SCARING PARENTS was failing, but still he said that our level is very low as compare to kids of bigger town and we won't be able to crack any COMPETITIVE EXAM if we didn't change our study ways (basically buy our subscription or you will never be successful), i was very demotivated back then.
Two years later I cracked JEE MAINS and now going to study in NIT NAGPUR without any bjyus or akash help.
f*ck that salesperson and byjus .

As a parent I felt a lot of peer pressure to enrol my child in whitehat Jr. But being computer literate, I knew that this course made the children a one trick pony. People would pay upwards of 40k inr only to end up seeing their children make a diwali greeting page with unimpressive graphics. Happy to see that parents are realising this scam. Great coverage of the situation Mohak

I had registered for a walk-in interview at Byjus but didn't show up. Someone from Byjus called me and started abusing me. I was thankful to Almighty for not attending the interview. If this is how they treat candidates then imagine how they treat employees.

guys, IF U EVER GET A CALL FROM BYJUS, ALWAYS RECORD IT. trust me, the way they behave when you say you don't want to buy their course is absolutely shocking!! And it's not even the sales person's fault, as I realise now, the company culture is despicable
