Its awesome how YouTube makes creators stick to “family friendly” guidelines despite having an entire Youtube Kids app. Second, only to how creepy a lot of content on youtube kids is ….

The real kick in the nuts is Youtube will still run ads on videos they deem to be not advertiser friendly. So basically, being demonetized is just Youtube's way of saying the creator doesn't deserve a cut of the money they are making off of the content the creator made.

The adpocalypse killed my channel. I used to do streams and guides for darksouls type stuff and i got shadow banned by youtube because “violent content”

The ending of this video confirms my opinion that you're one of the good guys on this platform. Godspeed to you and your family sir.

Brandon Herrara, Fat Electrician, Wendigoon, and Biographics. What a fine taste in video selection you have good, sir.

Its genuinely frustrating that its rarely talked about outside of gaming circles that Gaming took the hardest hit during the apocalypses, because youtube literally put those channels in their own separate section of youtube which gets less support, has less chance for advertising, but is also bigger than any other section of youtube.

And it just keeps getting worse year after year. Most recently, history YouTubers such as yourself are being demonetized even though they are speaking about historical events. Even though YouTube will still play ads on videos they have deemed "Not suitable for advertisers."

I have a feeling it's so YouTube can squeeze more money from creators basically stealing

Imagine it's 2006. And you're watching a funny video posted by not "YouTubers" nor large corporations like Machinima. But just normal everyday people. There are no ads, no surveys, no conglomerates. That's what it was like.

Thing is there are several amazing creators that get de monetized all the time, yet the ISIS recruitment channel was makeing money for years

The algorithm ruins the platform. I no longer get to explore out of curiosity. I just get to sift through piles of recommended trash

The funniest part of it all is that literally all the in video adverts, the ones where the company comes out to choose a YouTuber to sponsor, give zero damns about what the video actually has.

Advertisers do not care about the stuff YouTube is overbearing about.

I recall 2 adpocolypses happening cause they affected a small youtuber (60kish subscribers) I used to watch until he slowly stopped uploading videos because he USED to make a few hundred bucks a month off the channel and that turned into basically nothing.

Ah yes, the end of a golden era of YouTube. And the beginning of schizophrenic YouTube. Where there rules are strict, but enforced unevenly.

As a relatively new creator on my other channel, this is both disheartening to watch but also appreciated. Let’s hope that the situation improves before the next adpocalypse

It's hilarious how YT is so strict with creators but lets the fishiest companies run ads on their platform...

You are a good man. The information you give is always on point and enlightening. All the best to you and your family.

Even now there’s still unlucky matches for advertisements to videos. I clicked on a video the other day about how the supplement industry is a sham. And the opening advert was for dodgy supplements

Thank you for the amazing video. Was kinda surprised that the other COPPA event didn't appear since that was caused by YouTube itself (For those wondering, there was a moment where YouTube advertised that many people under the age of 16 were watching YouTube {Not YouTube Kids} and having their data used for advertisements, and that broke the COPPA act). Especially since it caused a huge lawsuit against YouTube

whats truly sad, is all this happened because a bunch of boomer and genx marketing teams tried to react to a problem that did not fucking exist. No one in the history of ever has related a video ad to the video its attached to. just like ads on TV or Radio, no one has ever associated those ads with the shows they were shown with.
