Back in the day, if I’d decluttered my straight jeans, when skinnies came, I’d have had to buy them again. Trends are not me, but very dated shapes don’t thrill me. So I keep things without wearing them for a year or more, because I will wear them again. It’s good to go deeper than time.

Could you film an updated wardrobe tour video please? I get so much inspiration from it and would love to see which items you currently have, hear the reasons why you love and therefore keep them and how you store them in your wardrobe at the moment😊

Great video and advice. Thank you. You are an inspiration to all of us. A famous Japanese lady says when we need to de-clutter the first place to start, it is with our clothing. It's really helpful and genuine here.

I have simplified my wardrobe as I changed from a formal to a more relaxed dressing company. I am going thru another change and am trying to be creative with what I have. Your simple suggestions are easy to follow.

I think it's important to point out get rid of does not have to mean forever just vacuum pack or have a storage suitcase or a spare wardrobe somewhere that's not in your everyday wardrobe and draws just because you have not worn it in twelve months doesn't mean you won't and things that go out of style always come back I try to have one of my two wardrobes with the current season items in it and the other wardrobe is for stuff I don't reach for all the time the the rest is stored away ❤

I am very content with not having thrown away clothing I couldn’t wear for 3 years after weight gain and now weight loss. If I would have followed this advice, I would have had to buy several new wardrobes, instead now I can rewear stuff and expand with just a couple of trendy items

Sezanne sweater (I have exact same one): gentle cycle 0°C temperature. Dry laying on a towel. I have it for 2 years and wash it all the time.

Last year I invested in a beautiful, sophisticated winter wardrobe. (I’m from SoCal and spent my whole life in board shorts and T’s). The issue was, we had just moved to Phoenix, AZ where there are three seasons: hot, hotter, hottest. So I now have a closet full of expensive things that I just don’t have the heart to dispose of yet. I’m living on hope! 😅😅😅

Comfort is essential, in clothes as well as footwear. I suffered for years from horrible skin rashes (and overheating) in my budget-brand (like H&M) clothing before I learned I’m allergic to synthetic fibers (plastics). All those clothes, including blends of natural fibers and synthetics, had to go. I only buy natural-fiber fabric/material items now, it solved these problems. I do wear a lot of luxury fabrics, but I have mo lifestyle constraints, I don’t even cook or clean at this stage of my life. They are a lot more expensive, but well worth it. I’m also very selective about trends, I prefer to buy classic styles that I can wear, ideally, forever. So, I passed on recent trends like shackets, very oversized clothing, transparent skirts, etc. I love this season’s trends, including the colors, because they are based on classic designs, for the most part.

Modern washing machines have a wool programme. I wash all my cashmere jumpers this way: on cold so between 0 and 20 degree celsius, and tumble only on 400. Use detergent for wool and silk, no softener necessary. Then lay out flat to dry. Simple, easy and perfect each time.

Love this video and you inspire me to finally sell on a few pairs of boots that I love but just don’t fit well.

I’d be cautious about selling jumpers that need hand washing though.

I have a few cashmere jumpers that need handwashing. But overall I know they save me energy, time and money as they don’t smell as quickly so need less washing and they don’t bobble compared to acrylic jumpers

You can put wool and cashmere in the handwash program of your washing machine, no problem 🤗

I’ve make mistakes using the 2 year rule. I’m in my sixties and fortunately my size hasn’t changed. Fashion does and I’m now re wearing those boot legs I kept from 10 years ago! I never give away coats now. They always come in handy especially when family visit.

Its best not to hang woolens on hangers, they start to sag. Best to fold and keep in drawers.

The more duplicates the less you have to wash... can save energy for the washin process. If you wear the same style most of the time duplicates are ok. (white blouses for business looks..)
