If you hit more greens in your next round of golf, you would think that your next score would be . a lot lower as long as you were putting well. In this golf lesson Matt Fryer talks you through a strategy that will help you hit more greens and stop ,making unforced errors that can lead to unnecessary dropped shots. A lot of amateurs loose shots because they are choosing the wrong yardage when playing in to a green and also aiming at flags that they shouldn't be.

If you were to watch Gary Player and to present day greats like Tiger woods and Rory Mcilroy, they are always making calculated decisions not only about their golf swings but also where to aim and what yardage to play to, so they have the best chance of getting the ball close to the flag or leaving it in a safe place on the green so they don't bring in the trouble guarding the flag.

Lately, I figure out the club I need to reach the center of the green and then I add one more club. So far, it's been working out pretty good. 😀

Great video and well explained. I have just started playing this way over the last few rounds due to the wet conditions and it is serving me well so far. I now hardly look a yardage to front of the green and mainly use the back and middle distances. If I hit one pure, so be it, more often short than long.👍

Great advice man. Would you say you’d advise to generally club up and take a bit off it as opposed to clubbing down and going full throttle when in between clubs?

I recall in an earlier vlog you touched on a similar topic and since then I allow for middle to back of the green distance. I am still not on tour but I do play a bit better.

When it's up hill you can't see the depth of the green. As a 16 duffer I would deliberately aim at the right edge of the green to take the bunker out of play and use a club to only just be able to reach the green. A simple chip and a single putt hopefully if it were short. If it were slightly downhill then I would be able to see the depth of the green and therefore I would go for the meatiest part of the green and use my best judgement of club. Of course if I had played the hole a few times and noted the results then I would be a little more confident of your tactics.

Hi matt its all well and good telling us to take more club the trouble with golf and golfers is there are only a very small percentage of golfers
who are capable of hitting any club a certain distance most of us can and do hit the same club all different lengths but every now and then we do manage too hit the ball correct and that what makes us come back for more

I've said to some of my mates that I try help out, one hardly ever sees the club golfer go over a green. 99 % are short!!
