I'm a sweeper. I literally have a mental block where I'm actually scared to take a divot because I know that means I hit it fat. If I take a divot it's more like a pelt.

Yes, I de loft my 9, 8 and 7 irons every time. Compresses the ball at the right spot. That is the way the club was made .

Isn’t this tip for hitting low shots only? High shots would not take that angle on the club face

Except you’ve now turned that 7 iron into a 5 iron by taking all the angle off it and your 5 iron doesn’t have to be leaned forward because it’s already at the same angle. 🤦🏻

But you take away a big chunk of the loft, or angle, in the club. Hit a 5 instead of a forward-leaning 7. 🤔
