Westinghouse Generator 120/240 Voltage Switch

We bought a new Westinghouse Dual Fuel portable generator and didn't get it to feed power into the house via the NEMA L14-30R outlet because I started it in 120v mode.

The solution is to set the voltage switch to 240v because only in this position is the outlet energized. When the voltage switch is set to 120v, only the two other outlets are energized with 120v each:
1. The RV compatible outlet (TT-30R) provides max. 3600 Watt at 30 Ampere
2. The two household outlets (5-20R) provide max 2400 Watt at 20 Ampere

Thank you for this. This kind of information is not known until one buys the product.

Thanks, that was the one question I couldn't find the answer to while researching new generators.

according to the power rating 5300 w generator you have 22A x 240v =5280 watts which is perfect in the total power expectation of the generator using the 240 volt output, so if you put 22A breakers on each side of the 240 hot wires Red Black that would give you perfect and equal overload protection for each leg of the 240 leg of hot wires that being said; you have a 120v red phase hot side 22A protection giving no more than = 2640 w and 120v black phase hot side same calculation = 2640 =

Thanks! I just ordered one of these and was wondering if I should switch it to 120 or 240.

If I wanted to run my well pump, which is 240 volts and my refrigerator, which is 120 volts - at the same time - can I do so with this generator?

Amigo esa toma de 120/240V tiene neutro? O sea sirve para conectar equipos de 120V, por ejemplo una Tv (120V) y un Aire Acondicionado (240V) tipo Split al mismo tiempo. Gracias

If you plug this into your house. I plugged it in the L 30 receptacle. Four prongs.

There would be no reason to plug it into the "RV "receptacle, nor the standard 120 outlets.

Then, I would start it up with the breaker off and let it warm up. Then I would make sure I put it in 240 on the big switch right in front of and then I would turn the breaker on.

That just seems like common sense.

I've had the same issue.
So if I used this generator to send 240v to my transfer switch, with no 240v appliances on the switch panel, will it cause issues? I assumed that I could only send 120v to the transfer switch, since the circuits on the transfer switch are all 120v circuits.

That's 20 amps each hot leg of the 240

Does it switch from gasoline to propane without shutting it off?
