I don’t know anything about this things, but is it safe, having the gas hook-up right behind the gas? My thinking: Seems like there could be a chance for a spark coming in close approximation to the gas? Please help me. Thanks.

How long can the natural gas line hookup be? It comes with a 15ft, can it be longer?

You don’t need to install a regulator from the supply to the generator?

Which way is the exhaust blowing. Towards the wall ( house)

I ran pretty much everything in my house using gasoline. Will natural gas run the same load?

This is funny because I just watched another video about how this is the wrong way to do it because of the dangers of the generator shutting off while the gas continues to flow. They showed the need of more than just the hand valve at the meter.

Not sure about your area but where I live you can't have any generator within 15' of any door or window. Where I wanted mine was too close to the bathroom window. Inspector made us replace the double hung window with a solid frame window. That cost $400.

Need to have a stand alone tank you may lose gas service in a bad storm.

Didn't show anybody how to do anything, but that's probably for the best :)

Great video for someone in dire need for power during a power outage. Most people are poor planners. Hence why there are soo many videos like this on YT. My only 2 issues with this generator is it is too close to the house. Second is the noise level. I’m sure that it will be loud as hell! By the end of the first hour of use their head will be ringing like a bell from the noise. No one ever mentions the noise.
I’m a power lineman for the local power company where I live. I hear many generators running after a one day power outage. They are all very loud. Bleary eyed residents want to know when the power will be back on? Most complain about a neighbors noisy generator running 24/7. Why do people buy them is beyond me? The first priority should be the noise factor when selecting a generator. We have the quietest home generator at our house. We have a Honda inverter with a closed frame. It powers up my entire house including all sensitive electronics. Most everything you buy today for your home is micro-processor controlled. That includes most appliances in your home. It runs our central air too.
The bigger the generator the louder it becomes & the more fuel it consumes. Something to think about when you’re out of power more than a day. A generator like this has a set engine speed to maintain 120/240 voltage (power for the home). This model probably burns a lot of gas? If your tapped into natural gas? Natural gas is pressurized by pumps that run on power along the way to your home. If you live in an area that was hit hard by Hurricane Helene? The natural gas pump stations might have been shut down from loss of power? Hence why having jugs of gasoline on hand is a better idea.
Most people only store 10 gallons of gas for their generator. They buy it just before the storm arrives. After 1 day they are screwed because most gas stations can’t pump fuel without power. So they have to travel far & wide in search of fuel (stupid).
I store enough fuel for a three week interruption. By the end of three weeks the fuel stations should be back on? If not the power?
My neighbors all think we must have a dedicated line from the power company because they see our power is on & they can’t hear our generator.

For the people that don’t have the money to have a box like this, put on the outside of their house if you turn off the main breaker coming into the house and into the panel, you will not back feed into the powerlines so therefore you can plug your generator into your either dryer receptacle plug or if you have an electric stove, you can plug it into that outlet. Just make sure the breaker on the top of your breaker panel is shut off otherwise you’re endangering thousands of lives if you don’t.

You fool! You put the electrical hook near the gas meter! And, Where is the regulator for the natural gas???

Buy a GenerLink and don’t go through the hassle of rewiring your home and having holes drilled through it.

Better have a generator panel or transfer switch so you don’t back feed the grid

Please check with your local power company before you do this!!! 🛑 🛑
This is illegal in some states because it

energizes downed powerline😮😮😮

Idk, I see more and more of these videos where DIY'ers are making gas connections, 50 amp inlet box setups that they built from Home Depot, and I guess more power to you (pun intended), but man, if you get ONE thing wrong you can kill yourself and all the people you love in the blink of an eye. I guess the safest thing to do is to contact your gas utility and your power company when doing these upgrades, which I admire, and make sure they are done correctly and if you have to permit and get inspected, do so. Risking your life is not worth the permit fee and inspection. Stay safe everyone.
