Back in 2023, I purchased a Tesla Model 3 to Drive for Uber! It was one of the riskiest financial decisions I've ever made, and in this video I'm here to tell you my experience of being a Tesla Uber Driver, how much the car was, what it unlocked for me, and overall if Buying a Tesla is worth it in 2024 for Driving for Uber and Lyft.

I got a 2023 Model Y from the Tesla dealership & it was the best car buying experience I've ever had. We needed a car & I don’t regret it at all. I signed up for Uber just to see what it was like & drove on Friday's & Saturday's for about 3 months. What I found out was Ubering 4 hours on Saturday night on 1 full charge for 2 Saturday's each month can cover the cost of my car payment. I haven't driven Uber in a few months because I've been busy at my job & wanted my off time BUT it gives me peace of mind knowing I can cover the car's cost Ubering just 2 Saturday's a month. The warranty is awesome, its the fastest car I've ever owned, autonomous driving makes driving simple & the only downside I've noticed is Teslas chew through tires. I have a Mercedes GL 450 that basically lives in the shop & is incapable of generating revenue, it only costs me money with high dollar repairs & drinking premium gas. Teslas are actually great cars.

I'm in Orlando and been driving Tesla for Uber in Orlando Florida and Uber added inter-city, Uber comfort, Uber X and Uber green.
I haven't heard of Uber premier until I watched your video.
I average $2, 100-$2, 500 per week in a gas car "my Lexus LS 460"
I'm averaging $1, 700-$1, 850 per week in my Tesla model 3.
Everyone needs to know it's the same weekly earning because you'll charge 2-3 times every 12 hour shift in the Tesla.
You'll lose money charging in a Tesla because your not making money while waiting 30-45 minutes every charge at the Tesla super charging stations, where as if your in a gas car your in and out in less than 10 minutes using gas hence more money.
However with that said in most fuel efficient gas vehicles you'll spend around $60-$100 per day in gas if your driving full time "12 hours" a day. 👍

I think paying that much for a car to do Uber would be a really dumb business decision if you intend to do it full-time, if you only intend to do it part time and work at optimal hours, then it might be worth it

I appreciate your honesty regarding your dealer experience. Most YouTubers brag even when it’s unnecessary. “Yeah. I know interest rates are high now, but I’m paying negative 14% interest because I know a guy. That means they pay me every month. Also I live in a $55m penthouse and only do Uber cuz I like driving.”

Yikes (when it comes to the key cards), I think the issue is that you just should never buy a Tesla from a dealership when you can buy it from Tesla directly. You'll safe money with Tesla directly for sure, as well as have a better experience. And I think a Tesla was for sure the right move to go with since Charging any non-Tesla is way more expensive than charging a Tesla. When it comes to a lot of things, Teslas are some of the most reliable cars in the world and last just as long if not a little longer than Toyotas or Hondas.

I too got a Tesla. And figured I could offset some of the costs by driving it as an Uber. It's a disaster. My situation is somewhat different. I have a Cybertruck. I started happily driving, and yes I was enjoying it immensely. But was puzzled. I THOUGHT that I would be getting some higher end rides. The people I drove loved it! They would gasp in surprise and enjoy the ride. After 10 days, I had to figure out what I was doing wrong. Went to my account. Uber had listed the truck as a type 3! There is virtually NO way to contact anyone at Uber. But when I did through Facebook, this was the result: we don't have a Cybertruck on "The List." You can only drive level 1. No. We won't upgrade you. I did the math. My income versus cost (prorated) of car payment, insurance, cleaning supplies, charging...didn't consider wear and tear or time to clean (automatic car washes are strongly discouraged) OR the taxes I'll have to pay. I netted a little over $5. So I was actually paying to drive for Uber. I had to stop. Made me very sad.
