Trump's first impeachment - 2020
Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., argued against an amendment to the articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, saying that Democrats know that the president had "lawful cause to challenge those subpoenas" associated with the impeachment inquiry into the president. Johnson, who roundly criticized the proceedings, said, "this whole thing is absurd," further describing the impeachment inquiry as "fraudulent." The House Judiciary Committee on Dec. 12 considered revisions to the articles of impeachment and voted on whether to send those articles to the full U.S. House of Representatives. Democrats on Tuesday filed two articles of impeachment against Trump -- abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
