Reminds me of my first couple days of Legends: Arceus.
Day 1, I failed a shiny Starly because I wasn't fully accustomed to the game's mechanics yet (also didn't know about the save trick). Second shiny I had ever failed.

The next day, I caught a shiny alpha Ursaring that was several levels higher than me. Redemption.

Fun fact: you can tell if a ball is a crit capture before it shakes by looking at the way its thrown, if its thrown normally, its a normal capture, but if its thrown in a straight line its a crit
