Even though I use translator apps like google lens to read the dialogue of most unlocalized otome games, I've slowly learned to recognize certain words and phrases through repetition on top of learning hiragana, katakana, and some kanji. Now, I can understand maybe 5-10% of the content on my own. It's not much, but I've made progress. I can't help but feel proud of myself when I'm able to read certain sentences or words without the translator.

This is the same route that i took 2 years ago, but before i went into visual novels, i used anime and manga. I'd recommend them over Visual novels for the beginner stage. Good job getting to N3 in 4 months.

I gonna to put this in practice when I begin to learn Japanese in the future!

Funny enough, I'm doing this learning method with English and it works extraordinarily so far. You got a new subscriber!

I read that your native language is not English, did you take a similar path to learn it?

I am using a translator to be able to write, sorry if there are any errors.

As a previous comment mentioned, this title is just clickbait. I think it would be better to let more people know how difficult the language is study rather than acting like you(anyone) can speed run to N3 in 4 months. For someone starting from "Zero" immersing 30 mins a day with a visual novel is not gonna help them without the n5 level of grammar needed to understand sentence structure. The average Japanese learner is n5 lvl proficient in a little over 400 hours, regardless of how they study. So unless someone puts in 10-12 hours a day FOR WEEKS, you're simply not going to be at n3 lvl in 4 months. this language is tough, good luck with your studies! I hope you keep getting better.
