It’s an excellent choice for those with a passion for mental health, comfort with ambiguity, and an empathetic approach to patient care. However, potential psychiatrists should consider the emotional toll of psychiatry, the lack of procedures, and the slower pace of the field.

Psychiatry has never been a "whole person" science for me. My doctors were cruel and superficial. Checklist skills only. No real interest in outcomes.

Great video as usual Dr. Jubbal- one important point to be made is that because the environment is “chill” and the specialty is non competitive, it does not always attract the best people.

In a field like plastic surgery the vetting process is intense. In psychiatry there are a lot of mediocre residents who are unlikely to advance the field and to have a very shallow, checklist, oriented way of thinking about mental illness.
