While our timing wasn't great and we didn't get to see the cherry blossoms or the autumn leaves, this little path leading up to Ginkakuji, the Silver Pavilion, was a relaxing and soothing break from my trip. Being from a small town originally, living in a big city like Tokyo can take a lot of you. So going to Kyoto and walking down this beautiful stone path was a great way to take my mind off stress. This path is said to have gotten its name from Nishida Kitaro, a famous philosopher who used to mediate while walking along the path to Kyoto University. I suggest going in spring in early April for the cherry blossoms.

We got to see the cherry blossoms!

The Autumn leaves are also very difficult to predict as they don't happen all at once like the cherry blossoms. I hope that you can come back to Japan during either of those seasons and get to experience it yourself.
