"Surely no one would change this!"

Dell about to launch 127mm fans.

Hold on, am I crazy or EVGA is only "restocking" the most expensive versions of their products, and the ones actually worth buying are still unavailable??

The way AMD treats the low end with GPUs, I would not be surprised if it was connected via PCI Gen 4 x2.

Back in 2015, $350 bought you a pretty nice moderately high end GPU. Adjusting for the actual proper overall inflation of the USD dollar, you'd expect similarly high end for the time card be around $425, yet prices are something like 3 times that. It's utterly loony.
With prices as they are, no way I'd buy any new GPU. Heck, a used GTX 1080 Ti looks like a more appealing upgrade path than anything new. As long as you don't care about certain bells and whistles it'll be a decent bit faster than an RTX 3050 while being a comparable price.

Bragging about restocking product at MSRP A YEAR AND A HALF LATER, and oh yeah the MSRP was already inflated, is the most tone-deaf thing I've heard from a company in a long while.

Gonna take a stab that the next generation of GPUs aren't going to be compelling because shareholders got greedy over the shortage

Great to hear cards can be had at MSRP but unfortunately MSRP of all the new cards is even overinflated. I definitely want to upgrade my RX 580 but until a solid mid-grade card can be had for around $250 I don't see the point.

On the subject of Dell memory.
Anyone remember the IBM PS/2? They had 72-pin DIMMs but inserting a regular one didn't work, you had to buy the overpriced IBM part number.
I worked tech at a PC parts reseller business that figured out that changing the ID pattern on the regular DIMM's made them compatible. There are 4 zero-ohm bridges that can be resoldered. We sold so many of those "hacked" DIMMs at a profit for both us and the customers.

Man I was expecting the RX 6400 to be like $129.

EVGA just emailed me a few weeks ago to tell me they finally had stock of the 3080, and when I went to check they were gracious enough to scalp me a mere $300USD over msrp. Thanks EVGA, good to know a used 1080 on ebay is running about 300 in total, which I naturally bought instead :)

The GPU shortage lowered my standards so much that I don't feel like buying a new one anytime soon, even at MSRP.

There's a sweet irony in the ad read for BeQuiet being 10db louder than the rest of the audio

Dell, always at the bleeding edge of straight to landfill technology

I think the GPU restock has alot to do with the fact that they believed they were going to be competing with Intel Arc GPUs around this time.

Only issue I have is, with just a little research, it appears Dell is aiming to make CAMM a standard -- and if it works as well as they claim, DDR6 or supercharged DDR5 in CAMM form factor even in desktops could *well* outperform DIMM. We'll just have to see how it goes.

dell is trying make CAMM a standard. due to its thin profile, ultrabooks can now have replaceable memory. they did work with intel and other memory manufacturers.
