Heated Slab for the Seed Starting Room

We finally get started on a project we've been planning since the winter months, a seed growing room! No more starting plants in the house this spring if we can get this complete before the snow flies. We prep the area for the new heated foundation and once the concrete is poured we enjoy a tasty dinner with the baby ginger we harvested.

We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! 💙

I have watched a number of channels of off-grid homesteaders, but holy cow, the scale of projects you two tackle is just a world apart! So much fun to watch things evolve! I love the cooking parts, always neat to see how you use the food you've harvested in delicious looking dishes.

I love that every time you build something, you celebrate by having your dinner right there at the building site. It's such a sweet thing. And I bet the seed room is going to be fantastic! Given the size of your planned greenhouse, I can't imagine you would be able to fit all the seedlings in your cabin anyway. Poor Eric would have been forced to sleep with the chickens otherwise!

I saw someone else say it on the last video but I want second the sentiment that I love how y’all never ask for likes and subs, you just share your adventures and lifestyle with anyone willing to watch. It’s quite refreshing that’s why I’ve been watching for about 4 years now. Keep it up!

One thing that delights me about Arielle and Eric - they rarely say "I", it's always "we". The mark of special people. And your slabs look magic - well done A, E and cement truck guys.

I have a Dutch friend. He speaks of people who have practical skills and those who plan and execute projects . He speaks of them having ‘golden hands.’ You both have ‘golden hands.’ 👍 Your impressive homestead development speaks of this. 😁Thank you for the enjoyable videos. Phil, Suffolk, U.K. 🇬🇧

As I watch you doing the myriad of things necessary to homestead in Alaska, I'm reminded of my Dad. He was a child of the Depression, raised in a red dirt farm in Georgia and grew up learning how to do everything. There was nothing he couldn't do with his hands and I see that in you two. He's been on to Glory for almost 40 years but he would have loved your channel. He was a bit disappointed in me that I chose a different life, but was a terrific father. God bless both of you

I love how Bandit decided to help out with a stress test, standing RIGHT in the middle of the drying concrete 😂😂! Teamwork makes the dream work! Great job!

The trowel you used on the edge that has a curved side, you are to push it down on the side a slide it back and forth to create a smooth curved edge. When you put a chalk line down on concrete you spray it with clear enamel paint so it don’t wash off.

This seed room is gonna be a fantastic addition to your property. More room in the cabin, a nice dedicated area to start the seeds and in floor heating! I can’t believe all that you have accomplished since the move. GREAT JOB you two!

I loved seeing Bandit stand on the cement like he was king of the castle. ❤️

Eric and Arielle are a classic example of successful. How do you become successful? You work at it and make it happen.

This is going to sound cheesy but I look forward to seeing your work every week! You guys make me wish I was 30 years younger so I could accomplish half of what you do!

You two make it look so easy! I know it’s a lot of hard work, but it’s your work ethic, you do it because you enjoy the life style you have chosen. It’s a beautiful thing to behold. Thank you both for taking the time to video it. 🙏🏻☺️.

It’s a lot of work for two people to pour a slab that size, but if you tap the forms with a hammer before the concrete cures you can avoid the “honeycomb” on the outside edges. You can seal it with mortar if are worried. Ice can get in and crack the edge 😬
I always enjoy your videos 👍👍👍
