Timothy, your tip on the rebar splitting the bag is genius. Not only are they lighter, they are much easier to load into the mixer. Something so simple baked all the difference. Also helped keep things clean.

Love the trick for splitting the bags. I was beginning to feel like a wimp 'cos I just can't lift a 40 kg (88 lb) bag and pour its contents into the mixer under control. Tried it once and nearly pulled the mixer over!

Just a safety point (you probably know this, but other viewers might not) ... don't EVER put your hand into a mixer while it's running (e.g. to check the consistency, or scrape material off the back). I don't think I need to paint a picture of what will happen to your hand and arm if your hand gets caught, hmm?

One suggestion is to prep the bags right on the pile.
You eliminate moving them to the ground and from the ground to the mixer
You eliminate picking them up from the ground, they are pick up height for a few bags.

Ive been putting the recommended water in first and have the mixer running while pouring cement into it. This method leaves no hardened or difficult to scrape cement on the mixer, looks as if its mixing ice cream 😎
