Lol I see that powershift into 3rd. You probably either have lower mileage, or you’ve taken care of the gearbox up until now, I’m assuming?

I bought a ‘15 LX 6MT sedan with only 30k miles, and whoever had it before me, beat the shit outta the gearbox bc it had worn synchronizers.

The first time I changed the MTF/gear oil, it was super dark, nearly dark brown; AND it had some metallic flakes in there. NOT good. The gearbox remained notchy as hell for the rest of the life of the car before I broke the trans itself due to CV axle issues, but it only ever had issues grinding 2nd gear at redline, and also locking out 3rd gear at redline as well.

I ran a variety of GL-4 and GL-4+ (GL-4/GL-5) gear oils/manual transmission fluids in the car, and it seemed to like Amsoil Synchromesh, regular GM Synchromesh (non friction-modified version), or Redline MTL the most. I would religiously change my gear oil with every oil life indicator light, which was roughly every ~8-10k miles. Depending on how the gearbox acted and how much I knowingly smashed on the trans, I’d change it even earlier than that, but I’d definitely change the gear oil over the engine oil if I ever had to.
