Album: The dark side of the moon (1973)
Lyrics:
Ticking away the moments
That make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours
In an off-hand way

Kicking around on a piece of ground
In your home town
Waiting for someone or something
To show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today

And then the one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

(Solo)

And you run and you run
To catch up with the sun
But it's sinking

Racing around
To come up behind you again

The sun is the same
In a relative way
But you're older

Shorter of breath
And one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time

Plans that either come to naught
Or half a page of scribbled lines

Hanging on in quiet desperation
Is the English way

The time is gone
The song is over
Thought I'd something more to say

Home
Home again
I like to be here
When I can

When I come home
Cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones
Beside the fire

Far away
Across the field
Tolling on the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spell...

Pink Floyd stories? I got one. I was taken to see PF on my 18th birthday on Oct. 15th 1971. At Winterland, and I was right up in the front. You could get to the front of Pink Floyd shows back then because they were so fricking loud that nobody wanted to sit that close to the stage. I took a hit of acid and I remember only one part of the show, Echoes, and how I had never heard anyone play the drums that powerfully before. I was staring at Mason the whole show, probably because he was the only one moving on stage. They used to just stand there, like statues. I remember the weird grin Gilmour would get on his face when he was into playing something strange. One of the greatest concerts of my life. Never saw them again, the ringing in my ears went on for

Listening to this using studio headphones it's crazy, the audio was recorded very precisely and the sound explode in a creative way in both the speakers. Every second something new kicks in, it literally gave me goosebumps.

Just realised that when I started listening to Pink Floyd in my mid teens it was actually years of loving them before I even knew what any of them looked like. Talk about letting the music do the talking.

This is literally the best album ever recorded in human history.

I saw these guys in a soccer stadium Cologne, Germany Summer 1989. Never seen so many ppl in one place. The crowd gave us hashish to experience the concert fully :)

This was recorded in 1973.
Pink Floyd was the first band ever to perform live using surround sound, and this explains very well why they needed the surround concerts.

The guitar solo evokes for me the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. It tells of a man coming to terms with his own mortality and the seeming futility of it all. Then again I may be full of crap.

My god! What a GREAT work you did here, my friend. I've listened to this song one billion times, searched for various versions, but I've never found something so pure a polished. This remastering extracted all the beauty and power of this song. You made my day happier. Thank you for that. God Bless you. Greetings from Brazil.

No really, please help me out here..I just cannot understand how on earth two people dared press the dislike button after hearing such an unforgettable, everlasting, wonderful, magical, and utterly overwhelming masterpiece

El solo hecho de apreciar el solo de guitarra de Gilmour ya te transporta a donde quieres estar. Larga vida a los PINK FLOYD.

Mr. Gilmore is a very under rated "Lead Guitarist"! Oh, I forgot his vocals. "The sun is the same in a relative way, but your older"(pure poetry, and philosophy).

10 years ago I simply enjoyed the music. Today, when I can relate to the lyrics so much it's entirely different experience.

In 1980 I was shopping for a new cassette deck. not too expensive, about $300. I had a TEST cassette with me to check out the decks. It was Pink Floyd "Dark Side" excerpts. I was in TECH HIFI at 12 west 45th St, NYC, it was lunch hour and the store had six sales people and about fifteen customers. The decks on display were hooked into a Marantz 1090 integrated amp (45wpc) and a pair of Large Advents. My deck choice was an ONKYO TA-630D.
I put in the tape, hit play, cranked up the volume and listened. The music started and it was the cut "Time". When the chimes kicked in I noticed EVERYONE in the store was staring at me. All conversation had stopped. The manager behind the counter smiled and gave me a low "thumbs up", he was obviously pleased. I wonder how many pairs of Advents were sold because of me? Oh yeah, I did buy the Onkyo deck. This was on July 25th, 1980. The TA-630D cost me $260, I still have the receipt!
