The first thing you said when you picked up the biscuit joiner out of the box was exactly what I said when I got mine out, “it’s really got a good weight to it!” We were taught in electronics exactly that, that if it is heavy it is made of good material.

Your dust collection is crap because the outlet was clogged more than likely. Also, when using a joiner, never use the bench as your guide, always use the provided guide from the top. Hang the piece off the bench and use the height guide from the top.
