Today's video is Our Top 10 Favorite Lake Malawi Haplochromis Cichlids. We walkthrough some amazing species belonging to the Hap genus, including predatory and common Haps.

Haplochromis species are typically large, open water swimmers. They require a large tank, with carefully chose tank mates. But if you get a solid group of haps, it's really one of the coolest cichlid tank setups in our opinion.

I really hope someday I can afford a super large tank and keep large fish... I definitely need a lot more experience in this Hobby but if I live long enough I'm hoping to get there someday... Wasn't able to keep aquariums until this year when I finally stopped driving a Semi Tractor Trailer for the last 30 years... Loving this Hobby and love your videos as it gives me the motivation to reach for that Trophy Display Tank full of Cichlids... 😊😎🤙

First, I really enjoyed you're video guys. I either have or have owned every single fish that you profiled here. Yours are big and beautiful. Having been in the hobby like forever so long that most of those fish back in the day weren't even available. I really do love my haps and peacocks, but if i could only pick one, which, by the way, is totally impossible, my absolute favorite is the fossocromis rostratus. Many years ago, when i first came across that fish, i fell in love with it and had to have it. Well, that's it, guys. i love all you're video's and respect what you all do. Take care, and god bless

I think the Tangerine tiger, Taiwan reef and red empress are protomelas, not placidochromis. Not being petty I just wanted to let you know. Your Malawi hawk is huge! Really enjoyed the video, very entertaining. I plan to start uploading some vids soon.

Are all your haps male? They're all really colorful. Jw too in case aggression gets high, to stick with all male. Thanks bros! Always enjoy your videos.

Hey Guys, I have recently set up a 80 Gallon Peacock and Mbuna mixed tank. Thanks for your tips and Videos. Surprisingly my wife likes it too though she is not interested in Fish Hobby. These Psychos look stunning and go crazy in my tank. 😂

Love watching your channel! I got a 36 gallon bow front and my wife finally decided, she likes the Apistogramma. I have no knowledge of cichlids. We like to do a community tank. I already have the substrate in, 1"dirt 2" sand as the plan as always been for it to be somewhat to heavily planted. SOME of what i read is that with this size tank, 1 male & 2 female max however that is not the "consensus" very hard to find reliable info. I need some help getting the cichlid count down to figure out what others I may or may not be able to put with it/them. Is 2 males even doable? I really don't want to deal with breading..if just 1 male, how do they act when they are the only cichlid? Certainly don't want him being depressed. This is all flexible but cardinal tetras, starry pleco and cherry shrimp seem like a decent community?
