Western European countries show prosperity at all levels during periods of economic growth, whereas here in the US we’re seeing the wealthy 1% consolidate a higher & higher share of total national income every year as the share of income for the bottom 50% of the country declines every year. Our economy is not sustainable in the long-run if the wealthy continue siphoning all of the spending power out of the bottom half of the country. Supply-side (“trickle-down”) policies are crippling the US economically, most people just haven’t realized it yet. It has created a house of cards that will likely topple in recession cycle, and it’s going to devastate this country.
