Troubleshooting CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD

I found out the hard way that my 17 month old CP1500PFCLCD UPS is no longer able to support even a small load when the power goes out. Upon engaging CyberPower support, they asked for a video, so here is that.

This seems to be a "FEETURE" of some cyberpower ups's. No idea there is a circuit problem unless you try a battery test, at which time (at least mine and others) go completely dead. My batteries are fine. So glad I load tested them before just assuming the batteries were shot. I liked the old style UPS's that always routed the AC through the batteries and then inverter so that all parts of the system are continually being tested.

Please tell me, does this UPS have GREEN POWER technology? This function shuts down the UPS when there is a low load connected to it. If this feature exists, can it be disabled?

Same issue with two year old version. I didn’t know there was an issue until we lost power. In the future, I will test by unplugging while still under warranty.

There is a self test feature in the pc software but it looks like the software isnt working anymore as sence they updated it. Going to to try a older version tomorrow and see if it connects. Ugh

I have many 1500 avr's ive replaced batterys many times, through out units couple of years is a good amount of time for batterys to last.... BUT i have one now... that its not batterys.. It just keeps restarting... When it does the start up self test, when it dumps to battery, it just turns off and then restarts... (*there is something wrong with the board, ive taken it all apart and can not see any obvious damage ) Im looking for a salvage one,

When you replace the batteries look to check that the batteries are both still plugged in. The internal wires are annoying;y short. When I would slot the second battery in, the first one would get unplugged. Took me three tries to get both batteries in and plugged in.
With a battery unplugged, it will show the battery as full, but if you run a self test or unplug, it will power off immediately. Even under no load.

Unfortunately I’m in a similar situation with the gx1325u. The device a 4 years old. I emailed cyber power support and they recommended to change the battery first then purchase a new one if the first option didn’t work. What was the outcome and overall experience?

Is this UPS worth buying for a PC with a 4080 graphics card and a 1000 W power supply?

Mine caught on fire when I unplugged it rather than just switched the socket off. It seems to be an issue with these if they lose an Earth reference

Had one that acted similarly. It was under warranty and Cyber Power replaced it. There is nothing to troubleshoot. This isn’t a bad battery. If the battery was at fault, it should indicate as such in the display.

I would suggest making sure it’s been charging for around 8 hrs. Mine did the same thing but the battery won’t work until it has a full charge

Mine is close. It is an older 1500AVR, date is March 11, 2011 on the main power transformer. I just replaced the batteries with new SigmaTek 12V9AH batteries. It did charge to 60%, but after 4 days, the battery pack is totally discharged. The unit won't even turn on now, and says "overload" on the display panel. I've got a 2nd identical unit. Time to swap batteries and figure out where the problem lies.

Same problem with mine. I guess after 8 years the batteries have lost their oomph. Only charging to 85%. Are the ExpertPower batteries good?

How long do these run for without any input

When the device detects, the batteries can no longer hold these efficient charge. They behave in that exact way so that you know it is no longer functional. I have three of the same unit and they have been going strong for probably 5 years. I just replaced the batteries for the first time this year after one of my units began functioning like yours. They shut down on that to warn you that they’re no longer functioning.

The problem with the batteries is they say do not operate upside down... yet they are installed with one upside down

The battery is terrible. Even after charging for over 8 hours and full capacity, once unplugged, the unit is dead.

I just changed the batteries in mine. With 360W load, I get about 8-10 min run time.
