Skinner was just mad she didn’t get the team gold she expected to win in Tokyo and she didn’t stick it out for 3 years to be elite and go back to the Olympics. This team was actually not as strong as it could have been if Shilese hadn’t been injured and Skye was on fire this season until she too got hurt. The depth on the team is unmatched. And all of these ladies work so hard. The fact Suni is competing at all, let alone on the highest level possible is a miracle in and of itself.

Even if Skinner made the team, she would've been sitting out the entire time because she isn't good enough to compete in anything.

We've got to get past this conventional wisdom that "aggressive" coaching which involves abusive methods is better for quality output. I think thats what she's saying here. Watching the younger generation bringing in a healthier approach which will extend their career and have a more lasting positive impact on their life is hard for old school trainers and trainees to accept.
